The elf gazed back at the woman, watching the wheels turn while she tried to gage him. He cocked an eyebrow as he sat back down by the fire, gently turning the rabbit. "You're younger than I thought." Kin commented, well-meaning. Of course faes are often more mature, he reasoned. "I was a mapmaker. Among other things." Among much less honorable things he didn't quite want to mention. "I spent s lot of time on trails in the forests and territory borders." His eyes were trained on the fae. Mapmaking was very fun, lots of traveling and learning navigation. That does come in handy fortunately when hunting down a big ugly demon, even with the path it basically carved out.

Eris narrowed her eyes at him for the answer, tempted to be snarky. She couldn't seem that old, could she? Not that she was particularly insecure about her age. She tilted her head faintly, looking him over and the word map-maker fell from his lips. She cocked a brow slightly, unsure if he was being serious. "Sounds... interesting." She said quietly, peering right back at the elf. She wasn't one to back off from eye contact. She let the silence settle, comfortable with it as she simply observed him through wary eyes.

Kin almost said something about it not being meant to hurt her feelings but he was enjoying her judgemental stupor. He mirrored her suspicious expression for a moment or two, the prolonged eye contact felt challenging. He wasn't one to back down from a staring contest but the darker it got the more his body was telling him it was night-night time. Tomorrow they should stop sooner maybe? He reached back by the saddle and picked his blanket out of it, breaking eye contact. He unrolled it slightly and shifted to lay on it, one knee up. Slowly twisting the rabbit with bis eyws shut other than to checm if it was burning or not.

Eris blew out a breath through her nose as he glared back, tipping her chin up slightly when he looked away. The corners of her lips tugged up slightly, and she watched him moving about to set up a sleeping spot. She watched him intently as he moved between resting and checking on the rabbit, still making sure to keep most of her attention on him. He was her largest threat, and she wasn't glancing off even for a second.

Kin sat there in silence for a while, unmoving save for his twisting fingers and were it not for them he might as well have been asleep. He peeked an eye open. He gently pulled the stick up out of the tiny crater and reached around the fire, shutting his eyes again but he was clearly offering it to Eris. Ignoring the fact that he was a lot closer to the fire now and it was quite warm. He wasn't sure if food was the way to her heart or not but it was the way with most women he knew. Anything to get her to stop staring at him like that.

Eris's brows furrowed at the offer of food, and she narrowed her eyes at him quietly. She felt, for perhaps the first time, uncomfortable. She was hungry, but she didn't at all want to eat anything he offered her. Then again, if she was going to escape, food was probably necessary for whatever strength she could manage. She glanced between the rabbit and his face, rolling her shoulders. She took one of the legs in silence, pulling it off as gently as she could manage and shifting back a little to eat it. Thought for a moment, acknowledging the fat running down her hand quietly. "Thank you." She said quietly, still half-glaring at him as she started to pick at the leg in her hand.

Kin's hand sat unwaveringly til she took something, he expected her to take it and was almost surprised when she did not. Kin didn't really require much to eat, he didn't know about her but she did almost just die within the week. He didn't really acknowledge her thanks other than he brought the meat back to himself and took a leg, he sat up, going about his evening. He wrapped the rest of the rabbit in waxed cloth with his one hand. Very routine. The fire was dying down to embers and he was as close to asleep as you can get without sleeping. Before long those nightmares would be the end of him.

Eris was silent as she ate, curled up slightly, keep distance between herself and the elf as best She could. She eventually finished what she could and tossed the bone off into the woods. She admired her throw briefly, then wiped her fingers off on the grass, shifting to grab some bedding materials from her saddlebag. She made herself a small place to lay, curling up while facing him. She was waiting patiently, until his breathing evened out, before she would go.

Kin stayed quiet like that for a minute more before actually falling asleep. His head tilted slightly away from the fire and his hands laying over his belly. He looked more comfortable than one should be sleeping on grass with no blanket over him. He didn't move a bit. Just slow, deep breaths. It was almost peaceful, especially with the fact that the corners of his mouth were ever so slightly turned up. He slept light, but recently- as in demon bear recently- he'd barely(ha) been sleeping, rest felt like he was finally melting. He usually woke up disappointed.

Why pun)) Eris opened her eyes as she heard his breathing slow, observing him from where she lay. He was definitely asleep- and honestly, much more attractive that way. Less grumpy, asshole face going on. She took in the slightly good natured upturn of his lips, observing him for a moment before she realized- Shit. She wasn't supposed to be admiring him. With a soft shake of her head, she stood slowly and hobbled silently over to where her horse was picketed. She adjusted his halter, taking his lead rope over his head and tying it to the other side of his halter. Makeshift reins. The gelding shifted just slightly, not enough to make much sound. She took in a silent breath, then threw her body weight up and onto the gelding's back. Less than graceful, but after a second of partial scrabbling, she settled comfortably on his back. Still quiet enough. She took a soft breath and glanced to her right to see moss on the tree facing her- which meant north was also that way. She shifted accordingly, turning her gelding and ushering him on and out through the woods, forging her own. The undergrowth was sparse enough that they could head out at a steady canter.
