Backstory-

He grew up thinking that no one would ever love him. His parents were abusive. His older sister taunted him. He left the house at 16, working at various chain stores and others. One day he stumbled into a mafia room and from then on he joined them, desperate to change his life, have a meaning, and be rich. He killed innocent and other murders alike. He was top of the business when he was on a job and got shot in the leg. He had to quit, ordered to bed rest for 2 months. He lost his income, but had saved a trillions of dollars in various banks, and was well set off. He sold a couple cars and was well off.

However, he started to get lonely. He would take random women home every now and then, desperate. He started drinking. Became best friends with the bar manager. He then bought the bar and opened a couple others around. Every now and then, he had to take care of a few people after him. He quit bringing women home after one stole millions of dollars from him after he trusted her. He is a heavy drinker now, getting drunk at night to escape his flashbacks of dead bodies and thick leather belts snapping around his arms and legs and back. He has occasional nightmares from his childhood.

Backstory-

Esmes' parents died when she was 4 months old, in a car crash. Ever since, she has been shifted from group home to group home. She's been with 32 families over the course of 18 years. Most of the families she stayed with abused her in one way or another. Finally, when she was 18, she managed to get out of the system. She was homeless for a few years of her life before she met her first boyfriend.

He abused her for years before she left about 6 months ago. But she had managed to get a job and save enough money for the little apartment she currently owns. Now she works at a diner as a waitress and lives down the street in her apartment.

Esme was carrying two full plates when she accidentally bumped into the man, dropping both of them onto the ground with a loud clatter. "Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry, I'll clean that up, sir, I'm so sorry," she apologized profusely, dabbing at his leg where the coffee had been spilt with her rag.

Esme gaped at the tip, "Sir, this is too much, I cant-" she started but he walked out before she could finish. She watched him leave before sighing and cleaning up the mess she made.

Esme cleaned up everything, having to pay for the spoiled food and the broken plates with the tip he'd given her. So nothing left for her... she sighed when her shift was over, heading home.
