Kurai's favourite time of night was midnight. The bright city lights at any time kept the stars from being seen properly even in one of the highest buildings around. It would have been a wonderful night to go for a walk, if only he had still been on vacation.

Mob life hit him hard when he got back home to New York. He had been updated on the business he needed to know, but otherwise he tried to block everything out for the sake of peace and restoring his sanity as much as possible in his short week away.

Kurai sat quietly at his desk, pen twirling through his fingers as he read through the gambling districts report. He had a glass of water next to the papers he had to read next. But it was all so boring, this side of it at least. He had his fair share of drama through other days in the past but tonight was not his best.

What made it worse was that the paperwork needed to be signed, so by his own personal rules he had to stay in his office until it was done before he could go back home. Maybe sleep, if he could.

Insomnia was relentless, and it was unlikely for him to relax but a man could hope.
