Sage frowned but nodded with a sigh, just hugging him gently. "Well turn it in," he hummed softly. "We'll figure something out," he added.

Remy leaned into him, clutching the egg close to his chest, holding it carefully. He nodded, crying. When he calmed down, the two of them swam down to the nursery, Remy holding the egg close to his chest still.

Sage let Remy calm down, before swimming down to the nursery with him, shooting a glare at anyone who looked odd at them, a protective arm around Remy and the egg he held. They all backed off pretty quickly, much to his relief. He didn't feel like talking to anyone.

Ally, the nurse who was kind of friends with Remy, approached the two when they came up to the nursery. They weren't really friends, but Ally didn't give him looks and didn't treat him differently than everyone else, other than not letting him have an egg. "...m-my boyfriend found a-an egg while hunting..." he mumbled, showing Ally the egg. "...we were wondering if m-maybe we c-could keep it?..." he whispered. Ally gave him a sad, soft look. "I'm sorry, Remy, but you know I can't let you. Thank you for bringing it in. I'll make sure it gets taken care of, okay?" she explained gently. Remy's lip trembled as he nodded. "...okay..." he sniffled, handing over the egg to Ally and then hugging Sage, hiding his face in his chest as he began to cry again.

Sage winced slightly as Remy mumbled, but luckily the mermaid there was kind in response to him. He hugged him gently when he turned to him, rubbing circles on his back. "Hey....hey it's ok," he murmured. "It'll go to a family who wants it," he added. He was clearly upset too, but he didn't want to blame the worker. Rules were rules she had to follow. But...."what are the rules regarding this anyway," he asked her curiously. 'im not from around here," he added, though he figured his accent and behavior and such gave that away.

Ally gave them a sympathetic look. "Well, all eggs are collected here and are raised here until they are matured to the point they don't need much care other than warmth. When they are matured, the nursery will open and the mer-couple wanting to raise an egg will be able to take one home. All the others that are not taken will hatch here and be raised here. We have a list of merfolks we cannot give an egg to, sadly, because you both are different, I'm not allowed to give you one," she explained softly.

Sage nodded in thought, frowning slightly as he took in the rules, just trying to think. "Right," he grumbled, still rubbing remys back absentmindedly. He knew they'd only want to give eggs out to those who could care for them....but in their instance being different wouldnt mess that up. He and Remy could probably give better care to one than some of the others could. He glanced back over at the egg with a heavy sigh, shaking his head. That spelled it out pretty clearly ...they wouldn't get an egg from here. But what about other towns? Where no one knew they were different, or where being different was accepted. He wasn't sure. "Come on, babe," he murmured for Remy. "Lets get you home, it's getting late," he murmured.

Remy nodded, still sobbing into Sages chest. Ally gave them both a soft look. "I'm sorry. Have a good night," she murmured to the both of them as Sage and Remy swam away together back home.
