After about 5 minutes had passed; Sylvia and Dexter had began to walk to catch their breaths as Allen walked back into the arena and changed all of the jumps to 110 centimeters.
"Alright- so apparently 90's is just too easy for you two. So I will make it 110 and we'll see how it goes. "
Allen explained to his daughter before he spotted Caleb entering the arena.
"Hey Calab"
He called out as he waved,
"How you doing? We are almost done here; I just recommend staying out of the way of Dexter. He likes to buck and I don't want him accidentally bucking Splash"
Allen said before he turned his attention back to Sylvia and gestured for her to try the course again but at the 110 centimeter setting. Sylvia collected Dexter and got him into his canter once more as they began to jump the course with ease. Sylvia's face nearly beet red as Dexter continued to buck after jumps- she tried her best to keep his rythem under control but Dexter's mind was somewhere else as he began to ignore her queues to slow down. Dexter began to speed up toward one of the jumps and jump two strides too soon; causing Sylvia to lose her balance. When the gelding landed and jumped the next jump too soon once more, Sylvia flew out of the saddle and crashed into the jump- the entire set came crashing to the ground as Dexter quickly backed away and trotted off toward where Caleb and the other mare was. Allen jumped over the fence as he walked over toward his daughter who sat up and took her off her helmet.
"You alright, sunshine?"
Allen asked. Sylvia nodded as she fixed her hair and stood up.
"Yeah- I'm alright. I wasn't expecting him to jump two jumps right after one another with that kind of striding"
She muttered. She soon put her helmet back on and made her way over to where Caleb was, Dexter staring at Sylvia with his ears perked up high.

Caleb nodded to Allen, loping that part of the arena. He grabbed the runaway horse gently and walked over to the arena's gate

Sylvia walked over toward Caleb as she smiled at him and took Dexter's reins.
"Thank you-"
she thanked with a nod and hopped back on (with a slight struggle). Her hands were shaking as she saw her father putting the jumps back up again as she asked Dexter for a walk. She didn't want to jump again right now- now that that sudden fall. Allen called Sylvia over as the pair made their way to Allen.
"Alright, so I am ending our lesson here but I want you jump these three one more time and you can go and untack."
Allen explained. Sylvia only nodded with hesitation as she got Dexter back into a canter and jumped the jumps again. This time however Dexter didn't buck and came to a calming halt when Sylvia asked him to. Allen smiled as he gave a quick applaud.
"Alright, we'll be ending this here. Go untack and don't forget to hose Dexter off. I'll see you at home for supper"
Sylvia nodded as she dismounted and gave Dexter a pat before she began to lead him back to the stables to untack.
Once Sylvia had left, Allen made his way over to Dexter with a friendly smile "So, what can I help you with today?" Edited at January 12, 2025 03:52 PM by Moonstone Valley

Caleb didn't speak to the woman, but looked at Allen. "Could I clean these up and practice some reining?" He asked softly

Allen nodded "Yeah I can clean these up for you really quickly. Just warm up and I should be done within about 5 minutes"

Caleb nodded a thanks and jogged Splash around the edge of the arena. He had her practice a few spins here and there before working up to a lope. Once Allen had finished cleaning up the jumps, Caleb got right to work with his approach and slide-stop

Allen quickly cleaned up the arena of the jumps and placed them all away neatly outside of the arena. He soon left and made his way back to the house to finish up some boarding paper work.
Sylvia had untacked Dexter and hosed him off before she began to lead him back outside to his pasture. Once they arrived at his paddock, Sylvia gave him an apple before she unclipped his lead rope and the gelding walked off back into his paddock- he whinnied at one of the other geldings before he sprinted off to go play.
Sylvia walked back to the barn where one of the other horses were; they were already tacked up for their lounge and everything. Sylvia placed her hands on her sides as she stretched out her back which by now was quite sore from the fall she had experienced. She collected the horse and made her way back into the arena where she began to lounge the clients horse in one of the corners of the arena.

Caleb saw that the woman was walking another horse into the arena and stopped practicing, not wanting to be in the way. He walked Splash a few laps before going to untack

After about 20 minutes had passed, Sylvia finished up the lounging of a clients horse and walked the horse back to the barn. Her body aching from the fall still. She was dreaming of a hot shower and a good nights sleep as she put the horse back into the stall.
One of the grooms untacked the horse and began to lead them back to their pastures as Sylvia sat down and exhaled a deep breath. She still had one final lesson in about an hour with a bunch of teenagers- they were kind teenagers but a handful.

Caleb untacked his mare before putting a cooler on her and turning her out with the other mares. Splash nickered to her friends and loped to them happily. He chuckled and walked back into the barn and spotted the woman. He sat beside her, smiling. "Hey. You okay?" He asked in referance to her fall. She was pretty, at least to him. He kept his smile soft and comforting, hoping she wouldn't see him as the average guy who just talked to girls for an advantage. He didn't have many friends, and the ones he did have just teased him about the horse thing. They were more a burden than a help, really, and he sometimes wished they weren't his only people to hang out with. He sighed, then asked another question to the woman. "Do you want any help with anything?" He asked softly, hoping he wasn't pushing on her too hard with his questions. It was something he'd always been a bit worried about, losing someone he hoped to get along with, especially with horses. He'd been friends for a while with a guy named John, but he'd gone oversees in the marines and cause Caleb to be stranded in an unfamiliar place. Edited at January 13, 2025 01:37 AM by Blue Diamond
