(no worries, you're all good lol. Life happens) Sage couldn't help but chuckle softly in response to his comment, shrugging slightly. "I suppose so," he noted. He hated it, but he couldn't entirely hate this one. He just wasn't someone he could dislike much. He didn't appreciate it. Though, he had to admit the help getting up onto the block was helpful, as he was short and his hands were bound behind his back, and that didn't make for very good balance. He didn't pay much attention to the trial...it wasn't super long. They listed out all the crimes he did, a lot of which he had definietly done and a lot which he hadn't. But hey, he was a pirate, so he must have done inimmaginable crimes, right? Either way, when they told him he'd be hung at some point soon, he wasn't surprised. He kept his face calm, but frustration was boiling inside of him. He'd get out soon. He wasn't going to let them get the last laugh. |

Rowan's frown was very... prominent, he seemed he couldn't keep a straight face like he was supposed to, his brows were furrowed and he could feel even more tension fill his bones. Hell, that was a lot of crimes, they made it sound as if the man before him was the scum of the world, it made something in the back of Rowan's mind try and snap, something in the back of his mind he had chained down long ago, but couldn't recall what. 'So this man is a pirate?' Rowan mused in his mind, he had never seen pirates all like everyone else, sure some could be dirty, rude bastards but Rowan knew somewhere there had to be exceptions, He stared at the man, eyes scanning every little thing on him, he could already tell that maybe this man was a bit of an exception, but the question was, how much of one? --- By the time the trial was done, Rowan had a lot to think about and analyze. His gaze with distant and indifferent as he led the man back to his cell, he almost wished the man wasn't to be hanged and rather have life within prison, just to get to know this interesting man, but he knew that rarely happened, especially with someone as 'dangerous' as him, when in all honesty the man looked as if he couldn't even hurt a fly! Rowan wasn't careful as he practically threw the man into the cell, he didn't quite mean to be so careless, but with the tension brewing and his mind elsewhere, it was hard for Rowan to notice he did such a thing. |

Sage had known what they would tell him his fate would be... And while it did cause some nerves with the date of the execution being sooner, that was alright. He'd just have to play this game very, very carefully. The walk back to his cell was quiet, both men thinking about various things. He wished he knew what the guard was thinking.... But he could tell. He couldn't see his face either, since he was walking behind him. Oh well. That didn't matter. He grunted when he was shoved back into the cell, stumbling slightly and muttering and annoyed "watch it," to the man. His chains were refastened by then though, and the man had left, gone back to sitting outside his cage. He let out a huff of air and flopped over onto the blankets that made up his bed, mins turning as he tried to rework his plan. For whatever reason, he didn't want to kill the guard. He'd been a little crabby, but he hasn't hit him or anything yet. Which he did appreciate. He wasn't sure why he would feel bad about killing him....he normally wouldn't care. Huh. |

Rowan scowled under the balaclava that obscured his face, he fiddled with the piece of clothing absentmindedly as he sat on the floor with a small grunt. His gaze was blank, icy pale blue gaze a bit hazy as he stared unblinkingly toward the cell. He hadn't even remembered where he got the piece of clothing, he hadn't even seen anyone else with something akin to what he had. Which was odd yet he didn't mind, to say the least. He huffed at his own thoughts as the wandered, wandered to an area he usually wouldn't entertain. He thought of what could happen if he betrayed his own men, if he betrayed Phillip, taking on the outlaw life, maybe even the pirate life, but quickly he shot those thoughts down, hands reaching for something to occupy them. |

Sage listened the the guard figet around outside his cell, sighing after a moment. "You're acting like they just sentenced you to death," he mused, in a sort of teasing manner, not moving from where he was laying with his eyes closed, one arm draped behind his head. It was a casual stance....making him look relaxed. His mind was anything but. He needed to speed his plans up. And quickly....he now only had two weeks to pull this all off. Get back outside. To the fresh air, the ocean. The sun. The hard work that came with the ship. There was nothing like it. Here, all there was was ...blank walls. A cage. He never had liked cages much. |

Rowan stood paralyzed, his heart racing as he took in the scene that had been unfolding before him. The weight of disappointment settled heavily upon him, carving deep furrows into his brow. He loomed there, his back pressed hard against the cool, unforgiving stone wall, feeling its chill seep through his clothing. With a frustrated huff, he released a breath he didn’t know he was holding, the sound echoing slightly in the tense silence of the room. "I can’t believe what you’ve done," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper, yet it resonated with a fierce undercurrent of disbelief and simmering anger. The intensity of his gaze drilled into the person before him, searching for some shred of understanding or remorse, but finding only defiance. Or so he thought. |

Sage opened his eyes after a bit, as he heard the guard speak up. His gaze lingered on the guards face, admittedly confused as to why he was acting like that. He sat up and moved forward, leaning his forearms against the bars of the cage. "And what is it you think I did," he asked quietly. "I live on the ocean and do what I need to do to survive. That's all." He let out a somewhat bitter chuckle then, drawing back and moving back to sit down on the bed again. "Whether I did or didn't do all those things they're still gonna drop me from a tree," he noted with a shrug, leaning against the wall. |

Rowan softly tsked, his icy, pale blue eyes shifting away from the Pirate for a moment to stare at the ceiling as he fidgeted with some stick someone had tracked in. His eyes were guided back to the Pirate as he inhaled sharply, realizing he hadn't answered before he released his breath with a slight wheeze.
"Eh, usually those I've seen around here did do 'em and deserve the rope... But you're an odd one, I'll admit,"
He mumbled lowly before breaking the small stick, well, rather twig. He inhales again, exhaling sharply as if he'd been poked with something, which he hadn't. The bruised rib he'd gotten a week before this Pirate appeared, seemingly acting up on him. He paused as some of the lanterns suddenly blew out, as if there was some wind within them. He frowns, shifting slightly.

(no worries!) Sage cocked his head slightly when the man called him odd. Odd? What was that supposed to mean? His brows furrowed slightly as his gaze washed over the other man, letting out a sort of sigh as he turned his gaze back to the ceiling. "Well, I think you're the only one who's thinking that," he noted, not really sure how to respond. The comment wasn't exactly nice, or friendly....but it wasn't rude or cruel either. It was confusing him. He stared at the ceiling for a while, but he became restless again. Sitting in a cell that was only four feet by four feet didn't allow him to get much energy out. And he did have a lot of energy. It was sort of just building up. He barely even slept anymore....he just paced. Lay around for a bit, and then paced some more. Of course, they didn't feed him much, and he didn't have much water either....so that did diminish some of his energy, but he still needed to move. There wasn't even a window down here for some light or fresh air. He missed that. Missed the ocean. |
