Mercy was staring in bewilderment at Will as he suddenly began walking toward them, something between hurt and anger on his face. Her breath hitched in her throat at his words and she turned her gaze to him, tears welled in her eyes, panic evident too. "Yes. Yes, but we can't- we can't talk right now." She murmured softly in response, intertwining her fingers with Ajax's as she turned to face Will. He went straight for Ajax, even as Mercy began to speak, and wound up to punch him in the jaw. She had shoved him backward and onto the ground before she realized She was even moving.

When Mercy intertwined her fingers with his he knew. Ajax's ears started ringing and he swore his vision was getting blurry. She remembered. She remembered HIM. She knew who he was. What they had been through. He was so in shock he didn't even realize Will was near them until he saw Mercy shove the man backwards. He then took action with slightly wider eyes than normal, grabbing her wrist. "Don't. He doesn't understand." He said quietly, glancing at Will. "I'd rather him punch me a few times than never forgive you." Ajax was still trying to comprehend everything. Most of him- overjoyed. Mercy KNEW him. But some part of him? Didn't want to tear her away from her life. The rest again? Terrified SHE wouldn't want to leave. The one small part that was still functioning correctly? Realizing she was still alive. They were living separate worlds. He was dead. He was a DEMON for crying out loud. He couldn't be near her.

It's so flippin good, I can't even tell you)) Mercy's chest heaved slightly rapidly as she stared at Will, on the ground. She glance back as Ajax grabbed her wrist, still a little disoriented. She shifted her hand to intertwine his with hers, her fingers lacing naturally with his. "It's okay. It's- everything is gonna be fine. He's not gonna hit you." She said firmly, taking a breath and turning around to face Will again. He was looking at Mercy with a slackened jaw and hurt in his eyes, anger flickering there as he looked at Ajax. She took a deep breath and slowly began to speak. "Will, this... nothing will make this make sense, okay?" She prefaced softly, shifting to stand in front of Ajax. "You didn't do anything wrong. Ever. At all. You did everything right. But I'm just... not your person. You're not mine." She continued quietly, gently squeezing Ajax's hand behind her back. "And I really hope you meet your person. You deserve it. If anyone deserves it, it's you." She nodded, clearing her throat. "Things don't have to be different. It'll be like high school- friends." She nodded, leaning back slightly as she waited for his reaction, her back settling faintly against Ajax's chest. He was simply staring at her, blinking wildly. The gears seemed to turn in his brain, and the anger dulled, but didn't die. "Ria... him? Really? You've- you've known him a month, if that. I've- we've known each other for years. Been together for years. I miss you." He started, tilting his head at her in a plea as he moved to get up. "I missed you so, so much. I waited for you. For years, and I thought I was dying everytime I came to see you, sitting there comatose and prone. The guilt- you can't even- you couldn't possibly begin to understand!" He continued, taking a half step toward her, then glancing at Ajax and moving back. "You didn't even- give me a chance? You haven't been giving me a chance since you got out. Is it because if the accident? Do you still blame me? Please, please just give me one opportunity to prove myself! You don't- you don't even know him!" He begged, ripping his hands through his hair in slight hysterics and glancing around as if it would calm him down.

Ajax swallowed a wave of hesitancy and regret. If he stayed like this, said nothing, it could ruin Mercy's life forever. Worse, it may be impossible. As he was frantically thinking, he let his jaw hang open slightly, still almost as shocked as Will was. His mind raced with the worst possibilities. What would Mercy even do? She wasn't an ANGEL anymore, physically. If you asked him, he'd say that she was an angel in every other way including physical looks, but that didn't matter. She wasn't dead. Wasn't immortal to old age. She would die, and then she probably wouldn't get to be an angel again. No, definitely wouldn't. Life was still falling apart, because now that he found her, he just had to lose her again. Most likely she'd die of old age, and he'd never see her again. Ever. How could he live with that? His dark, rather panicked eyes shifted to her, his mind darting a thousand directions. He then glanced at Will, who had started to go off. Ajax's head was reeling, and he couldn't stop but think... if he wasn't here, everything would be fixed. He wouldn't suffer. She wouldn't have to choose. Will wouldn't be angry and betrayed. He could have a demon that didn't like him stab him through the heart within minutes. They were always waiting for an opportunity. This could all end. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to face it. He didn't want to go out that way. His heart wanted to either jump out if his chest and run away or stop working- he couldn't tell which. In any case, it HURT. He was so thrilled, but everything else was warning sirens. Nothing made sense. No one would understand why Mercy decided this- no one. They'd look down on her and cast her out. It would all he HIS FAULT. He couldn't do this to her. "Mercy... you can't leave them. We... we... we lead seperate lives, and in one of them we may have used to know each other, but in this one? Your family knows you, and I don't. I'll always love you.. more than anything in the universe... but I want what is best for you, and I can't imagine what that is right now.." He whispered, his voice hoarse. More like, he didn't want to admit that what was best for her was staying with her family. With ... Will. Pain stabbed through his chest as he thought about it. Why would he even try. He already ruined her life.
