Sage was handling himself fairly well...he wasn't as quick as he used to be, in some ways, but old habits had come back quickly and muscle memory took over as he took out the next few men who rushed him without thinking. The remaining three guys thoughts about their attacks and defenses more once they realized he could fight, so the tussle lasted a while longer after that..but eventually he'd gotten the last man on the ground and finished him off, sagging against the wall as he tried to catch his breath. He didn't give himself much time to do that though, since he was checking the rest of the house to make sure they were safe, before calling up to Mari he was going to check the barn and stuff as well. He did caution her to keep the kids in their room....there was broken glass and such everywhere, as well as...well...corpses. and blood. The kids shouldn't see that. Neither should Mari really....but he needed to check the barn quick. He rang the bell he normally did for the few horses not still there, and they came running since the bell meant dinner. So he settled them all down again, making sure they were ok and giving them a small treat before moving back to the house and tiredly trying to figure out what to do with the bodies and the now trashed house. The carpet would definitely need to be replaced.

(Sorry i've been suuuper busy recently ;-;) Mari sat with the children, gently talking to them and trying to keep their minds off the the racket downstairs. She'd wrapped them up in the blanket, and spoke to them softly the whole time. It had to be a good half an hour or so before things had gone quiet. All she could really hear was Liz, still sobbing her little heart out. Silas was being brave, but definitely seemed nervous - they didn't know where their father was, and she had to admit she was getting worried about him too. Well, she'd been worried about him the whole time, but the longer they were up here and he didn't show, the more she panicked. She gave Silas a book and told him to read to his sister, and that she was going to leave for no more than twenty minutes. She told him to lock the door and open it for no one, and to stay away from the windows on the off chance someone threw something in. Once she was sure the boy understood, she slowly creeped out the room and down the stairs to find her husband. The whole play was completely ruined. Her mind raced, trying to think of the worst scenario until she finally found Sage in the middle of the kitchen. She didn't even notice the bodies laying around, just sheer relief that he was okay. She hoped he was okay. She jogged over, her eyes glazing over slightly as she scanned him, making sure he wasn't at all hurt. "Are you... are you alright?" She whimpered softly.

(same here..finals is in two weeks and we have a week off for water and all the unit exams are the Friday before finals starts lol) Sage had half jumped when Mari ran over to him, but quickly calmed as he recognized her. "I'm fine," he noted. He had a few cuts and bruises, but nothing too serious. A few were deeper than others, but he wasn't sure he needed stitches. "How're the kids?" They'd be scared, but not hurt he imagined, since the action was down here. He scowled though, glancing down at the bodies scattered around the kitchen, nudging one of the head with his foot. "They ruined the carpet," he grumbled. Then his nose wrinkled slightly. "And my pajamas," he huffed, seemingly more concerned about that than actually killing them. That was probably not very healthy....but he honestly didn't care they were dead. He did care more about the carpet than that. But he knew if this happened, it was likely a rebellion ...and that had his mind racing a million miles an hour. Edited at April 16, 2025 03:47 PM by NightClan

(yeah lol i get it) Mari looked him over, her brows pinched tightly together as she tried to calm herself down just a little. Oh, god it was terrifying. These people, these strange people were in their house... where their children slept. She didn't know what would have happened if Sage wasn't there. She took his hands and squeezed him tight, still panicking over him. "You're sure, there's nothing deep or... or..." she trailed off, staring up at him full of concern. She nodded at the mention of their kids, though. "They're scared, but okay. They're worried about you," she breathed, looking him over again before her eyes ran over to the men... these people. What on earth were they doing? What had they done wrong to deserve this? She shook her head at him quickly. "We can get a new carpet," she mumbled. "And you can get new pyjamas, but we need to get these bodies out of here before we scar our children any further," she whispered quietly. She sort of stared at Sage again, her brows pinching tightly together before diving at him, wrapping her arms right around his sides. "I'm so glad you're okay," she murmured.

Sage hummed softly in response to her comments, shaking his head softly. "I've learned to gague how bad injuries are despite adrenaline for the msot part," he noted with a sort of chuckle. "I'm alright," he reassured her, before humming in agreement to her comment about the boddies, which were slowly dripping mroe red onto...well, a lot of stuff. "I'll take them out back and burn 'em," he noted with a sigh, eyes widening with surprise when she jumped at him, but wrapped his arms around her tightly after a moment. "I know," he murmured softly. "We're ok...things are broken but nothing too bad, and the animals and barn are all ok," he told her. "They didn't even get very far into the house. What I'm worried about is what's going on out in the streets for people to start acting like this," he admitted quietly, casting a glance towards the castle. No way was he leaving his family or anything...but he was worried about Anya and Att and the doctor, and how this was going to go down. Edited at April 16, 2025 08:32 PM by NightClan

Mari nodded to him after a moment, although she still looked worried... the place was still covered in blood, and she'd promised herself the kids would never have to see anything like this. When he finally hugged her back, though, she squeezed him right before looking around. "I'll help you take them out and..." she paused, running her hand over her head before looking back up at him with a sigh. "We can fix everything up," she murmured softly. That would be a later problem, though... right now, they needed to make sure everyone was safe. "It might be a good idea to go into the village and find out what's going on," she murmured.

Sage hummed softly and nodded, pursing his lips slightly. "Well have to clean this all up before the kids can even come down here....I'll take care of the bodies, can you wipe things up in here," he asked, sort of thinking out loud. "I don't want them up there scared for any longer than necessary," he added, brows furrowing slightly. He knew they were scared ...but they couldn't see this. He nodded when she mentioned the village, sighing softly. "I can sneak around on the streets after the house is clean. Figure out what's going on," he noted. "I should talk with Anya too ...see what's happening on her end," he added tiredly, really wishing this would all be nothing. Just a couple stupid guys trying to rob them. He doubted that was the case though.
