Evangeline finished grooming the stallion, Trouble was his name and he used to be a dressage horse before he threw his rider and was sold. She heard the sound of a car drive up and sighed knowing she may have o go serve them, she was putting down the brush we she was startled by the sound of a mans voice that quickly she knew as the man from that morning. She held her breath, was she really out here that long? Her mother was going to kill her. She brushed off her hands and ventured to the stable door, squeaking it open again. "Ricardo, what a lovely surprise" she answered remembering his name he had said to her that morning while he was in a rush. Her eyes drifted toward the food he was holding, she hadn't had fast food in so long but she averted her eyes and put her eyes back on his "Anywhere is fine, even in the stable if you'd like" she nodded her head. |

Her quiet tone made Ricardo feel like she wasn't really happy to see him. Perhaps he should hide away somewhere where she couldn't see him. He didn't want to create an extra burden on her. "Thanks," he nodded as he prepared to head off. He noticed that she had eyed his food although she had made eye contact with him afterwards as if she were trying not to eye his food. "Would you like to share this with me? I don't mind. I'm sure you've been working hard. I think I'll eat outside. I don't want to get in the way out in the stable, and I don't want to make a mess for you to clean up in the house. See you around." He went outside and sat on the step to the house. It was warm there, and he decided he wanted to be quick, because he was getting warm. Even so, he stayed long enough that Evangeline headed this way. "How was taking care of your horse? What is his name? Or was he a she?" She hadn't responded to his offer to help, so he didn't say anything more about that. |

She closed the stallions stall door then walked back outside, "Anytime" She nodded pulling the big stable door closed. "Oh no I'm good it just smelled good" she smiled sheepishly and followed him towards the steps and sat next to him, dusting the step off before. - Evangeline turned towards him when he mentioned her equine and a smile curved into her mouth "It's wonderful.. I was hoping to ride before nighttime" she fixed the front of her apron "His name is Hades, he's a stallion" she answered both questions in one breath. |

"Alright," he smiled glad to know he could finish his food without guilt. He scooted over a little making room for her to sit. He was glad to see a subject that made her open up some. She had been so quiet. "Do you think there is enough time or do you have something else to do? That's such a lovely name. I heard that stallions were harder to deal with than geldings and mares although they all have their own unique issues." Standing up, he turned to head back inside. "I'm going to go throw away my trash. If you take Hades out, I'd love to see him in action. Horses are so beautiful to watch, but I never learned how to ride." |

She nodded, scooting a little way more as she was squished against the rail. She was glad the air didnt feel as thick with akwardness "Nope, nothing else to do because mostly everyone goes to do outdoor activities and my mom cooks dinner. We rotate" she nodded "Thanks, I've had him since he was a foal" she let out a gitty smile thinking about him and his little legs "He's definitely a pain, and ok the trash can is right there" she gestured towards a small can next to the picnic table "Of course, we have one other horse if you want to ride along" she offered. |

"Oh nice. I haven't seen your mom yet. What's her name?" He considered asking if she was a good cook, but that seemed rude. "I'll be right back." He got up and threw his trash away and returned to his seat. "What are you smiling about? You must be very close to him if you've had him for so long. What! He doesn't seem like a pain!" He looked back in the horses general direction trying to see what she knew. "Oh, thanks for the invitation. I'm not a very good rider, so if you want a nice brisk ride I wouldn't bring myself along. However, I'd be willing to try if we go at a nice sedate pace. What's your other horse's name? Gelding, stallion, or mare?" |

Her eyes tracked his mouth as he speaked, it seemed to be moving at one thousand miles an hour. She shook herself out of her thoughts and turned them back on the man in front of her "She doesn't come out of her room often-" she halted her sentence, she had not thought that line through. After a second she kept talking to finalize the commet "Her name is Susan" she nodded for no reason as if that made her feel better. By the time she finished her nod he was sitting back down on the wood plank beside her "He was just the cutest foal" she chuckled quietly "I've had him forever thats true and he is a pain when he doesn't want to work" she followed his gaze towards the stables then back to him. "I think you'll do fine on Angel, she's a literal Angel. Looks like one too" she smirked "And its not very adventurous unless we go through the river" she raised her eyebrows and smiled mockingly. |

He cocked his head surprised at what she was saying. He leaned forward slightly to seem interested, and he tried to keep his facial features even so that hopefully she wouldn't feel judged. He was curious why, but if she didn't want to expound, it was clear there was a reason. "That's a nice name." He responded reflexively. He hadn't met someone named Susan in a while. From what he could tell it was an older name. He smiled when she started talking about the foal. This sounded like a safer topic. He wanted to keep her feeling comfortable. "How do you work with him? What do you do?" He smiled at the name and nature of the horse. "So is she white or maybe a light color like a palomino? That sounds promising." He knew that a gentle obedient horse made all the difference. He'd at least be able to stay on, but he had no idea what it would be like trying to ride her. He was willing to try. "I'm willing to go through the river...slowly." He added as an afterthought. "When do you plan to go riding? We better go before I chicken out." He chuckled. "Where else do the trails go?" |

Evangeline smiled as the man seemed interested in trying to ride a horse and her own equine, standing she motioned towards the stable while walking towards the big entrance and slipping inside. "Work with him? Not sure, we just get along" she paused while she opened the stud's stall door "We used to do like handler shows but now we pleasure ride. I used to event as a little kid" she answered, picking up the forgotten brush. The women walked down two more stalls before stopping in front of a perlino mare "She's perlino" Evangeline spoke, fishing out an apple slice and offering it to the mare. Angel licked it up from her palm and crunched on it while eyeing the man with perked ears, he was new and different then Evangeline. Reaching her hand to undo the stall lock and creaked it open, she was spotless. "She's always been good about staying clean" She pointed it out while brushing her crème coat in long strokes, her mane was shorter then Hades but it settled right below her neck. |
