Chapter 2: Behind Her Blue Eyes
It's been a couple of weeks since Prince's death, Heather had time to heal even though her heart still felt shattered. She let out a sigh as she groomed some of the lesson horses, as if on cue her 17 year old sister, Sandra, came into the barn as she poked her head around the corner. "Hey sis!" Sandra said with a smile on her face, "Oh uh Hey, Sandra" Heather hesitantly replied a bit since she was distracted by her thoughts. "Ok so I know that you'll probably be mad at me but" Sandra said as she continued "I want you to go look for another horse, I know that your gonna feel like that you're replacing Prince but your not, he's always gonna be your first horse and I bet he wants you to give any horse the best life like you gave to him" She said to Heather with a reassuring smile.
Heather sighed, knowing that her sister was right then she finally spoke "Alright, tomorrow I'll try to look at some horses to see if I can find the right one" she lead a horse that she got done grooming back to his stall then heads off to the dorms to sleep for the night with her little sister walking beside her
The next morning, Heather would be getting dressed. Putting on her black beanie, her black short top that exposes her stomach & mid back which shows off her tattoos, her black & red fingerless stud gloves, her black shorts, and her black combat boots. She would have some tattoos on her, her first tattoo would be a gold horseshoe with a four leaf clover behind it on her right wrist, her second tattoo would be a ying & yang dragon styled symbol on her left wrist, her third tattoo would be a wolf howling at the moon on her left arm, and her final tattoo would be a horse running on her back. She grabbed her keys and walked out to her red 2019 wrangler jeep with a grey horse trailer that has a built in tack room, she unlocks her jeep as she gets into the driver side, closing the driver side door before starting the engine, backing her vehicle up before she drives off to a local horse sale to take a look at some horses, already having the location set up on her GPS.
After a long drive, she made it to the place where the man sells horses for a good price. Heather parked her jeep before turning the engine off then gets out of the vehicle, shutting the driver side door as she walks over, already being approach by the man which she assumed that he saw her pull up into the driveway
She walked over to the man then they shook each other's hands before they started talking, casually walking around the facility. Heather would study each horse that they've passed until she stopped at a mare's stall, she saw fear in the mare's pretty blue eyes then she looked over at the man then she asked "What's her story?"
"Well, She was brought here from England. The mare was taken away from a small farm there by animal control since the couple that owned her was pretty much abusing the poor girl. The mare was previously in a local equine rescue until I came along and just took her to help find this girl a good home so she wouldn't have to go through that abuse again." The man said this to the red brunette as he comfortably leaned against the mare's stall door as his grey eyes watched pretty colored mare. "That's awful!" Heather said this, having a frown on her face as she shifted her green eyes back on the nervous mare that was now moving around in her stall. "Poor girl, she didn't deserve such a cruel treatment. Those people don't deserve her, besides...they were too blind to see potential she holds." She added, folding her arms in front of her chest while slowly slipping back into thought, thinking back on what her sibling's words...starting to consider a bit more that Sandra maybe right..did Prince have something to do with this? Was there a reason why this mare was set in her path?
The young woman let out a sigh before turning her green gaze back to the man. "How much does she cost?" She said. The man turned to her, his grey gaze met hers "$500, give or take." The seller told her, being quite serious about the price that he placed on the anxious Blue eyed mare. The brunette let out a sigh then pulled some money out of her pocket before handing the man the money. "I'll take her." She said this with a serious look on her face while the man gently took the money she gave him. The man handed the young woman the mare's sky blue halter with a matching lead rope, Heather slipped inside equine's stall, carefully approaching the mare with caution. The colorful mare let out a nervous nicker at the woman that was approaching her. "Easy, easy girl. It's okay, your safe now. I'm here to take you home." The brunette red softly cooed to the anxious mare, gently stroking the equine's neck to help calm her down. She was able to slip on the head collar on the colorful roan, carefully leading the skittish mare out of her temporary stall that she was staying in.
