Hilariously, that's an entirely plausible thing. People aren't "what you see is what you get".
Of course not. What I meant was the main character is the only one that can get through to him and understand him.

This mostly just happens in places like Wattpad, but when instead of dialogue, they go: Main Character: Words Other Character: Words Is it that hard to write proper dialogue?
