A friend of mine got a colt that I'm gonna be gentling and starting its training over the course of a year or two. Very happy for us both!

Yeah, your good, no one said you were, many horses can have hoof problems like that so it's a reasonable reaction.

x) I'm not defending his actions, by the way. Denali's hoof issues were just a very complex, multi-modular issue

Some things get missed unfortunately. My farrier was here this morning and asked if Ted had been lame behind, which he hadn't. Turns out there was a nail in the side of his hoof! Luckily only a tiny one that he reckons won't cause problems and hadn't been there long at all but I couldn't believe it!

Lmao, yeah, no, I would be moving to a different stable if the owner was like that.
The Old Gods

So, between the constant rotation of different farriers each trim cycle and constant thrush, yeah. There were hoof issues. Once we (me, mom, farrier) figured out the issues, it's taken a year and a half, but her feet are finally healthy again

Honestly, it was a shit stable. Owner was one of those horse women who was convinced she knew everything (she didn't) and drove off most of the farriers in the local area because they wouldn't trim the way SHE wanted.

Damn, I understand he might have not saw the signs due to the type of horse Denali is but still, he should have checked her hoofs, under the saddle, etc.. to make sure nothing would bother her before hopping on.

oof. we have had many horses like that and lost a few too. his fall seemed really rough too. But even when my sister got a concussion, 2 yrs later the horse is still here with us lol being fat

She wasn't showing any signs of hoof issues for several years after she got here until one got super bad and blew through the hoof.

She looked at him, angrier and angrier as he looked at her with that look of "I don't give a damn about you" to him.

Her ice blues were orbs of cold fire and fury as she said, "Today you die, murderer."

Taima only smirked wider. His eyes continued to stare at her lifelessly, as if he had no soul.

"What's the matter? Didn't I do you a huge favor? Besides, those damn brats were nothing but in my way. Both of them were weak, useless."

He shrugged. "Really, I think I did both of us a favor. Oh well, if you hate the pain, I could always end it for you."

That last part was said with a snarl and growl. He stopped the growling, acting like he was rather shocked. Then suddenly, choking sounds came from the massive wolf.

For a moment, Ankou thought he was dying, but then saw the look of complete madness on his face.

He was laughing!

She growled. How dare he! She simply shook with a silent rage, bared her fangs, and launched herself at him. "Time for you to rot in hell, you criminal!"

As they fought, Ankou grew angrier. She fought fiercely against Taima, the big wolf. She hated him. Oh, how she hated him!

As he merely fended her off, she growled. "They were your pups! How could you kill your own flesh and blood!"

Taima stopped laughing and suddenly gave her a black look, golden eyes filling with cold hatred towards the mention of the dead pups.

"Don't you dare call them mine! They were never my true children! They never deserved to live!"

At that, Ankou was numb. A thought ran through her mind about her pups': a memory.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mama! What we gonna do today?", a young red pup asked innocently. "Yeah, Mama! We gonna do something fun?" A greyish black pup asked the question in a young voice.
Both pups looked at her with love and admiration, adoring their mother as if she were their Goddess.
Her heart swelled with love for them as she said, "Today, your father and I are going to teach you the many flavors of meat, what we wolves eat."
Both pups yipped happily. A deep chuckling was heard from the pack alpha male, Taima, as he walked up to them with meat in his mouth.
The pups cheered happily as the memory faced away.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------In a broken voice, Ankou spoke, trying to gain answers from the one wolf whom she'd always loved.

"Why? Why did you shed innocent blood you'd created?"

Taima could not believe his own pack could do this to him. He could not believe it at all.

Ankou saw the silver flash of a wolf come over and grab his tail. She saw this as her chance and growled, determined to kill this crazy fool for the sin he'd committed. Yes! Finally she could kill this murderer, this criminal, this...devil!

She latched on to his throat, holding it so hard that his jaw broke.

Taima's eyes glazed over with pain.

Ankou held on, not letting go. She shook her head ruthlessly, tearing his throat. Unknown emotion caused tears to roll down her furry face as she heard and felt the death rattle.

She'd expected to feel something, anything.

Maybe, triumph? Pride?

No, nothing at all. She felt nothing now.

The only thought that ran through her mind was that she'd finally killed him.

She'd killed a wolf that had been a lot of things to her: friend, lover, mate, father, and murderer of their children.

Yes, indeed, this was certainly how to lose a family.
