Pinned Up Ponies said: I don't because it takes almost the full month for the horses to train up enough to even be profitable to show. Plus my breeding season lasts pretty much the whole year so most of my yearlings would never even start to make a profit until they were technially 2 year olds.
Futurity foals always show in their owwn classes - so all these foals have the same training level and are able to win right from the start. Sometimes with a couple of lucky trainings in a row, even "mediocre" foals have the chances to place quite well, so you never know in the beginnings if you´d loose or are able to make it to the top 5! Futurity is an additional game within the shows and they are really interesting and fun.

Sunny Roots Ranch said: No but I would love to because it seems like fun! My problem with it though is that are just some stables that have a monoply on the futurities so it's just so hard to get any sort of foot hold and stand a chance ;-;
I wouldnt call it a monopoly really as everyone's chance depends on the horses they enter. Theres a few of us that do it every year and have nice systems for which horses to enter etc, and then showing routines that make it super easy. I won the eventing futurity in one of my first months doing it, and ive had a steady stream of wins and placings since then. The only part of it that I would say leans towards being unfair is that horses on the same points are ordered by ID, so you do have to do any futurity breedings ASAP and it helps to be online for RO.
