After a long hiatus, I'm thinking of re-opening my adopt shop, Velvet Island Dragons! I had a lot of fun with them, but eventually struggled with art block due to how much time I was spending on them, hence the break :/ . I have some time to set the shop back up this week, but I start a new full time job next week, so I won't be able to dedicate as much time to them as I did before the break (nor do I want to kill my motivation too quickly). Previously, I shaded and drew unique patterns for every dragon. I could keep doing that with only a couple available per week, or I could pre-shade the bases and start building a pattern library with a few set variations for each pattern. Splash and sabino for example would mimic some of the HEE horse variations. Some patterns would still need to be drawn individually, especially for homozygous traits, but the workload should be more manageable this way. Given how the genetics system works for them, each dragon should still be unique, but not as much as before. I like this idea, but I don't want to go through with it if it ruins the charm of them for others. Thoughts? Poll Question: How should I go about re-opening?Total Votes: 14

I'm torn on this because artist burnout is no joke! I think pre-shading and set patterns is a good inbetween, and maybe you can sell some premades that are different whenever you want to on the side? Whichever you choose it should be what makes you happiest~

I think having the occasional unique premade is a good compromise! Based on votes so far I've gotten started and it seems quite functional :D Edited at August 31, 2025 03:45 PM by Bignus Bognus
