This week we'd like to know if obtaining Horse Of The Year is a goal for you.

I've always thought competing for horse of the year sounded fun, but have no idea how it works!

It kinda seems cool, but I have no idea how it works and not a lot of interest to learn. I tried to show futurities a few times, and it's basically impossible since 2-3 stables have a monopoly, so I quickly lost interest.

It seems like only horses with high bravery ratings qualify, so as an AD breeder with no interest in bravery I don't think I have a way to compete. But I'm also not sure how horse of the year is determined.

I'll have horses in the running ocassionally and it's usually a surprise to me LOL I don't really know how it works so if my horse ends up in the running I did nothing outside of what I normally did. Maybe some better guidelines on how a horse gets there would help people who do want to pursue it.

I would also love an award for sires/dams with offspring who have competed the best. I have some horses who continually produce amazing show horses, but not necessarily the highest rated horses or best producers.

But I also just like seeing how much the offspring of my studs have won. Maybe I am a weirdo haha

It used to be. But it's really hard to do that, so I just try to focus on surviving and growing my dream. So if I make it then I am glad, if I don't I learned not to be sad. Lol!

I do make sure all my decent stock is bravery tested just in case they end up on there, but honestly HOTY lives in the same part of my brain as the holy grail- it would be lovely to get but I don't have the first idea what's involved in getting it xD Plus with there being no actual benefit to getting it, I mostly just forget it's a thing and focus on breeding as best I can.
