Only one of the courses I have left is going to be available over the summer. I really want to take a break but also it will be online so not a huge deal

Luckily, it's just one really hot day, then it'll go back to being in the 60s. So it's not like an extended amount of heat

Thank you guys! I'll be looking for an english pleasure/trail horse that I can ride bareback. I am a pretty new rider, and I would need a horse that will not get too angry with mistakes. What could I look for to find good horses in advertisements?

Common euphemisms in horse sale ads:
"needs experienced/strong/confident rider" = this horse is wild
"needs a program" = needs a professional trainer
"fearless/bold" = horse came out of the box without a sense of self-preservation
"project horse" = green as grass and most likely a problem horse
"great <whatever> prospect" = horse has no real experience in the given area, but he's certainly not working out for what we intended
"sensitive" = will spook at anything
"moves off the leg" = has one speed, fast
"more woah than go" = has one speed, stopped
"needs prep" = must be drugged or lunged half to death to be rideable
"needs maintenance" = has expensive health problems, most of which we won't disclose
"dead broke" = may also be dead lame or so old it has a hoof in the grave
"strong personality" = has no ground manners
"in your pocket/puppy dog personality" = horse is pushy in a way only the owner thinks is cute
"spirited" = hot, no brakes
In general for a first horse, you want to avoid anything that says "green broke", "lightly started", or "needs finishing", as these horses are in a very early stage of their training and still need work done by a professional or very experienced horseperson.
Of course, this is also a slightly cynical look at the way horse sellers word their ads. There are many honest sellers out there who will be up front with you, but be aware that you often need to read between the lines to get a more accurate picture.

Also, why are you looking to a buy a horse? At your stage in the game, I would highly recommend leasing a horse rather than buying.
And what are you planning to do after you graduate from high school? Since you're 16 you're situation could change drastically in the next couple of years and this needs to be taken into consideration.

I've been leasing a horse since summer break started, full time lease. I ride whenever she needs exercise, groom her, and I feed her and this other horse at least once a week. I would like a horse for exercise, to have responsibly, to be able to care for such an amazing animal. I also want a horse because I want to do something that involves horses when I get a larger more permanent job, and because horses are just amazing animals that are really fun to care for (I don't know why, but for me it's really calming doing the physical work required to keep a horse). Another thing, I am just thinking about getting a horse, and am only somewhat serious on the idea. I probably will not get a horse before college, and I probably won't get a horse ever, even though I may want to now. Horses are such a huge responsibility that I don't believe I'm ready for.

I understand why you’d like you’re own horse, as someone who currently is in college and has leased horses. You’ll want to continue to lease or part board through college. Depending on where you go and what you do, finding time for a horse can be a real challenge. While I’m fortunate to be able to stick to a schedule for riding. There are many times I must give up my riding time for the day to finish assignments. Some programs make it even more difficult to even dedicate one day a week to riding.

I'm considering leasing a horse, is there any way I can do that for free? Or does it always cost money?

Depending on your barn and place you ride you might be able to lease a horse in exchange for doing chores, I think mostly you have to pay though
