The competition was today (1/9) and let's just say we need lots more practice before we can be super competitive. Our pole run was great! We ran a 27. The second event was turn and burn. You run down and turn a barrel and run back, sounds easy right? Well apparently not. She got excited that she could run the full length of the arena and then forgot to turn. It doesn't help that she doesn't quite know how to put speed and turns together yet. Last but not least was barrels. We went a bit wide on first which was okay but then she was trying to run home and I barely got her over in time to turn second barrel. The rest of the run was fine though 😅 I am very proud of her even if it wasn’t great. I have owned her for two weeks at it was our first competition. We will do better next time. |

It sounds like you guys had a blast. I wish I was in your area. My horses would love the turn and burn pattern you described. It sounds like you guys will be doing a bit of barrel practice before your next competition XD |

Terrible weather here today. She is getting a day off 1 for the weather 2 she worked hard yesterday. Whenever I have the chance to ride her again I'm thinking about putting an English saddle on her and mess around with some jumps. Thoughts? |

There's no harm in trying jumps. You might just find her preference. If I can remember to get a couple boards to make some standards out of this week, I'm going to try with my barrel horse. Sometimes doing something entirely different can be a good change of pace and give them a nice mental release. |

I thought a fun jump day could be good since she is a very tense mare at times. |

Ok I rode her again today but not English since it's cold here and she was very fresh. Tomorrow I will probably throw my English saddle on her! |

I did it! I threw my English saddle on her and was so surprised. She is a natural. We only went to a little bit over 1 foot but I was so proud of her. Didn't know I it once! The only thing is she cant do ground poles 🤣 |

I jumped her over some cross rails again! She did amazing! Also the other day we liked barrels and it was PERFECT! Who different horse from when I bought her. |
