Bless you Myth- sometimes letting it all out really can be healing though!

Winter are you talking about bravery medallions? If so, those have to be used at the time of breeding the foal not at exploring

hi guys! does anyone know how to use the "Foal Bravery Rating x2" pass? I took one of my foals to explore and didn't see the option to use it, neither did I see the option to in the horses profile. Is there some craft thing I need to do or what? Thanks

My 4H time was spent showing cows. We didn't have enough people to make a horse judging team, so my FFA teacher wouldn't take just me to a judging contest. I can pick apart a steer, beef heifer, or dairy heifer, but I only know horse conformation as far as being comfortable and proportionate.

I got lucky... 6 or 7 years of 4-H light horse club, adored my time in it and i miss it dearly, ive never learned so much in my entire life. im pretty rusty. hoping to get back into it after I finished college

For a jumping horse, a shorter cannon bone is preferred because it is less prone to injury from the pressure of landing than if it were longer, from what I know. I am definitely no expert on conformation but that's from some things I've read.

Agreed. Shorter = stronger in every sense. Shorter cannon bone, shorter back, etc., will help a horse stay sounder in the long run. If you want a horse to have a good reach in the stride, don't look at the cannon bone. Look at the shoulder and hip placement. The more "open" a horse's shoulder angle is, the more open their stride will be.

Good to know. I have a half sister to my stallion that I'll have to take a picture of later to post. She is 2 weeks younger and built similar, but a little more "halter" looking. She's been a barrel horse, but I think she could do well jumping. She's got more of the attitude for it.

I think as a general, shorter cannon opposed to longer is always desirable.

Tea, your boy is straight up wonderful! HIs shoulder appears nice and sloping, but the angle of the photo is a little offputting. His back is long, but depending on what you're doing, it's preferable (jumping). His hip angle is nice. He seems even, maybe a little finely boned. To me, he looks well muscled. I freaking love Zippy's legs! Although, it does appear his left hind hoof is clubbed.

Overall, he looks like a wonderful horse!

Shin, he's so cute! All of his fat though is going straight to that hay belly XD (that's totally fine). He appears to me to be slightly roach backed (opposite of sway back). His neck is awfully short which may hinder you guys during jumping more than help (not saying he can't do it). His legs look really good, they're nice and straight. He might be slightly camped under at the front end. His pasterns look longer to me as well. He is very finely boned for his big body. He looks like with a lot of riding and some good exercise, he'll muscle out well! ^^

Both of you guys have some very nice horses!

I tried to get multiple pics from all the different angles, but turns out this dude is just too silly. And a pain to keep still long enough. None of the pics were good >.< I see that the first people got away with one not-square pic each, so I figure this will do ok? These are the only decent ones I could get of him.

Anyhoo, assuming this is fine-- here is Rosco P. Coltrane ;) or just Rosco for short. He's my mustang yearling (will be 2 in mid March) that I'd love to turn into another low level eventer like his best bud Ter. I know it's a bit harder to judge conformation with the weird babyish proportions but it's possible so figured I'd throw him out there.

Amhain, you're totally good without squaring up. If you can, perfect! But, I know the struggles of squaring up with an airhead! XD

First I notice is he appears downhill a tad. He's got a short neck. I wish his throatlatch was a little less meaty, so he may have a tough time with collecting (although he is fuzzy so it might just be his fuzz covering it lol). I like his legs and shoulder/hip angles. Wish he had a little bit more bone and muscle, but because he is a baby, he might fill out. He also has a longer back. He might end up having a hard time with his balance due to his neck to back ratio.

Overall though, he's super cute! I'd steal him if I could! XD

Thank you! He does have a lot of hair in the cheek/throatlatch/chin area so it's thinner than it appears. Do you not think he'll even out with the downhill bit? I usually see horses his age a little butt high.

He should definitely even out! Babies grow butt-first. He's very very cute. :)
