If you have any back on track leg boots I would try that also. Seems to help my uncles horse from swelling up on trailer rides |

You can also put clay on it- that draws down swelling from when our horses have to be kept in stalls for a while. |

I was going to say this. My POA injured herself about when I was 8, near the same area. It was pretty gnarly, we would wrap it and clean it until it had healed enough to quit wrapping. SEVERAL years later her leg was still kinda swollen and there was a large scar and even some scabbing. Didnt bother her one bit and never had any issues, and as far as i know to this day she hasnt had any issues either. I sold her about 6 years ago.. She hurt herself probably 15? years ago |

My old OTTB had some what of the same problem. When we purchased him he had a swollen back hind (I believe it was the right hind but idk it was a while ago) but we had the vet come out and she did some tests and said he was fine. I rode him in jumpers and did some eventing with him and he was wonderful! It didnt heat up at all but after a while when we started to go higher In our jumping he did have to have hock injections. He was a bit fussy sometimes with lifting that leg but other than him being a drama queen he was fine. I showed him up to 36 and schooled about 1.10m-1.30m. He never limped or showed signs of pain with the swollen leg. It was just there but didnt affect him. |

Grr, we can guess all we want & everything but I really hope I can get a vet out here to confirm whatever it is! Thank you guys. Today it rained, he has been standing in the mud and his leg is alot more swollen right now, I'm hoping I can get him out tomorrow and see if it goes down any. Right now all the rain & sloppy mud is not helping his leg. I would but im in the barn stables but I'm not sure if that would help at all since he would be even more inactive & bored during the day then. Not entirely sure what I can get for him to amuse himself or be more active lol they do have horsey toys in the fence/pasture but I never see them really do anything with them. |

It can happen when horses are standing around for long periods of time. Lunge him and the fluid will disperse. |

Lunge,lead, go for a jog and drag him, pony, et cetera to get the swelling down.

There is no puss.. When he gets to moving around it gets significantly better I've noticed. Still nothing from the vet ): There IS heat above his ankle along his leg in the mid-section. All I can really do for now is keep it clean, hose it down & hope for a vet to be able to come down. I don't have a large enough trailer for him and the only way I can get him to the vet is to ride him to our local town vet (about 30 mins on horseback) Or try to find one that will come out to me to look at a horse. |

Hopefully you can get a vet out, he may need antibiotics or something. I'd rule out stocking up as both legs would generally be swollen. But it looks more like Cellulitis as previously posted. Legs do *not* get much blood supply, or at least enough to promote quick healing, the sooner you can get the vet out the better. Sending good vibes. |
