I have a 16.2 OTTB, and I've had people come up to my spindly little man asking if he's a warmblood. I also have an Irish sports horse, who repeatedly gets mistaken for an Oldenburg! Like Ma'am my horses are not that fancy xD |

My brother was going to ride my mare, and I said 'be careful, she doesn't like people touching her flanks' so he promptly jumped up ONTO HER RUMP and kicks her in the flanks. WTH. The mare, obviously, takes off across the arena and I'm just glad she didn't kick him. He fell right off her back end, landing on his feet and falling backwards onto his rear end. Then he screamed, (startling the horse even more) "Polly bucked me off! Polly kicked me! I'm dying!" I'm like -facepalm- as I run to go catch my loose mare
Sensitivity in flanks is a symtem of hind gut ulcers. Have you had a vet out or had a scoping/blood and stool tests done? Ulcers are very common in horses. :) |

my boyfriends non horse family came to visit our barn. We have a 3 year old *very* green mustang who has 12 rides on him(by me only) and a yearling and their only concern the whole time was wanting to see my boyfriend who doesnt ride try to ride both of them and got mad when i said they couldnt either and didnt understand why they cant ride the yearling |

And it is also always the ones who haven't done more than a trail ride. I am part of the riding academy program at my barn but they also board horses. Their is a friesian stallion who is boarded their. He is beautiful and as far as I know he used to be a pasture pet. He isn't young but he is VERY green and has barely been ridden if anyone has ridden him at all. So this new girl comes I think she is about 9-12 but I don't know. She is the type of girls who took a pony ride at a fair and tells everyone shes experienced. She comes in with her "expensive riding gear" (a.k.a fake western boots and a bike helmet which they made her change). She was riding this little horse named Ivy who is a tiny little black pony. We are walking out to her pasture to grab her and the girl asks me what ivy looks like. I say "She is black and very fluffy and cute". She tells me she can get her herself and runs in front of me. I yell at her to "come back" and "do not run" but big shock she doesn't listen. When I finally catch up to her she is holding a halter upside down trying to open the gate to the friesian stallions paddock. |
