I show even my EEE, WEE and WWE boys gelded, in SD. I also dont show my AD breeding stock though and I know alot of people do

I've noticed the same too Willow, yeah--I still have them training AD but just primarily put them in their best discipline. SD is certainly easier to maximize though as Athena mentioned
Gaelic Gladiacres

although I suppose there's no harm really since they're not breeding stock, unless you want to compete eventing/AD

A lot of them are EEE, but I noticed some do better in a certain discipline, even while in AD

I personally prefer SD over AD. It is simpler for me personally and therefore makes me the most income as I understand it better

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone has tips on how to stop your horse from rearing. My mare's name is Luna. She is an OTTB. She has been seen by the chiropractor, the vet, and the farrier. She has one issue: rearing. She has already flipped over on me twice. I'm stuck with a broken arm, but otherwise I'm fine. Its hard to get people to exercise her because of the issue. I work as a horse trainer, so I know how to handle these issues, but I'm just wondering if anybody has any tips on hoe to solve it. She doesn't seem to respond positively to my methods. Thanks! :)

What methods have you been using, and what sets her off with the rearing?
Personally, as a horse trainer, I would not bother with a known flipper. Rearing is one thing, but once they cross that boundary it's hard to go back.

I have been going back to basics, just walking and trotting. I usually try to end on a good note, so as soon as we make a few laps in the arena, she is immediately rewarded. When she does rear, she is quickly told that it isn't okay. I try to let her relax when she does stand still etc.

I am training her as a resale project, so I'm not keeping her. It was that or the dog meat, so I bought her >_< She isn't rearing in displeasure, she rears due to not knowing what to do, is what the vet said.

Can you get a more experienced trainer to help?

I'll be honest, on an ethical level I don't believe in selling flippers, and you won't be able to resell her if people know she's a flipper. Give her away, maybe.

I draw the line at flipping over. That's something that's extremely difficult to untrain. At that point I'd run her through a horse sale or give her away.

A professional trainer. Another job. Auction...
I had a rearer. Never. Again. I do not do rearing. He never flipped over with me but he did with my mom and a trainer.
He now is a trail horse. Never does more than a walk and trot. Thats it. It is a job he can handle.

I wouldn't even auction it. You don't know where it will end up or who it could hurt down the line. If the only choice would be to auction, I would PTS. It sounds cruel, but when they're in the ground, they're not hurt and they're not hurting anybody. :/

^^ for some it's the only option.

On the yard I work at, if it flips it's gone within a fortnight. They're too dangerous too keep and there's not much you can do about flipping.
