So I recently went out riding on my newer mare. She did good for the first few minutes. We walked past my older mare just fine but later she wouldn't leave Bella (my older mare). Emma (my newer mare) would stand there beside her and paw at the ground. She'd only move when Bella moved. Anyone know how to fix this following problem? Most likely herd bound.
does she normally stay in a pasture with your older mare? My mares get really herd bound. |

Yes she does. But when we got her, she was the only horse there |

It sounds like you have a heard bound problem.
So I own a proud cut gelding that used to be extremely herd bound.
What I did was work him in the next pen from his paddock mates. I started on the ground. I worked him at free lunge for 5 days. For 5 more days it was riding him bare back with no tack. By the tenth day I could ride away from his mates. |
