He's a borzoi. I have his mom too, she is 11 years old and had her crazy zoomies times when she was younger, but she was always pretty level headed. Matrix is going to be 8 in September yet still behaves like a pup most of the time. My first zoi was his grand-aunt, who also got pretty serious as soon as she turned 3, but she could get up to some mischief every now and then

Awwww bless him, he's just trying to enrich their lives xD What breed is he? Patterdales are known for being super clever, which is definitely the case with Norm. Paddy must have been stuck in the birth canal for a while I think bless him. He does have his moments but getting stuck somewhere with a little blank stare is his trademark

I am very familiar with the 2 braincells thing! I was always wondering why people claim my breed is stupid while I had only girls. they are very smart, downright cunning. Now I have one male and he's the biggest himbo. In fall he keeps carrying around hedgehogs he finds in the yard, like some sort of world's shittiest rollercoaster!
Minerva
06:16:53 Min
Norm did help me herd 60ish ram lambs every day for a while though so he does have his talents. Actual herding isn't particularly one of them but he tried his best and didn't bite or chase anything so I was happy xD
Minerva
06:13:12 Min
Haha I wish- they're utterly useless xD I was hoping Norm would show an interest in ratting so I could use him on the farm I worked at and in my own paddock, but he wouldn't say boo to a goose. In fairness he did grow up with a hamster so it's sort of understandable. Paddy's a little bit more "kill-y" but he's got 2 functioning braincells on a good day so unless something is presented to him he's useless haha

I'd bosh out the 3 and skip the 20 San lol. At least you know it'll definitely only take 3 goes now

Hello all! for those that do not know, i recently bought a 2 ½ year old OTTB 2021 filly (Refer to this thread) and this thread will be for her training and adventures, of her learning to be a horse. ill be documenting my day by day journey with her here :)
.
.
.
Brie is 2 and a half, she has a very sweet silly personality, before i had gotten her, she hadnt touched grass under her feet freely ever! She was just a race horse, who didnt really have a thing for racing. When she first got her, the shipper said she was the SWEETEST thing ever, and best OTTB shes ever hauled, shes such a smart little lady. I have hopes of restarting her for eventing, she will start jumping at 4 and a half (pending) years old, but until then, ground work, and when shes 3, ill start flatwork lightly. So far shes having a BLAST at my stable.
.
.
.
All and any tips for restarting an ottb appreciated!

Todays plan (10/5) :
I had work yesterday allll day! didnt have much time to spend with her, but today we are gonna throw my saddle on and go for a little walk, today is a nice day, so i might try to get a photoshoot done with her. 😋
.
Edit: I may also try to band her hair for some pretty pictures.

Lovely, relaxed and alert, the perfect pony. I hope she grows up and loves the classes you enter her into.

Update of the last couple months with baby Brie and plans for the future!

In the last couple months in have kept Brie on amazing feed, and she has recently started living in her paddock, which is amazing for her.
though I really would appreciate some tips as I have been struggling with her a little! She has an issue of getting way to excited over a situation, and starts rearing and attempting to kick me, now, as a MASSIVE 16.2 hand two year old baby brained, she is extremely dangerous when she has these explosions. She has gotten better with calming down, but I would still appreciate some help.
Lately I have just been working on desensitization, long walks, long lining her, and teaching her how to properly use a bit. I've hopped on for walks every now and then but not to much as she is still growing. I've just been trailering her and exposing her to new areas. And one thing I can say about this horse is she is a WATER DOG.
In the winter our fields flood, and bad! It's up to my hips 😩, but anyways I took Brie out in the water with my gators on and she had the BEST time, I definitely think she will love cross country!! She is so brave it's crazy! Everytime I think she's going to be horrified of something she is just totally relaxed about it, OTTB perks I guess 😂
(Adding more updates and some pictures to the album!!)
