I just bought this mare today. Her coat is brown, but she has black points, mane, and tail which is an indicator of a bay horse. |

If the horse had dun, it'd display in the color name. Neither of the parents have done, anyway, so it'd be impossible for the horse to have dun. Pretty sure the horse has the right image. Brown is a variation of agouti (A is bay, At is brown, and a means no agouti). So, they'll still have points. |

Hummm. Okay I've always thought bays had black points, and browns unless they are very dark brown didn't have black points. In the case of being super dark brown they are listed as dark brown or dark bay because unless gene tested its almost impossible to tell the color. I know with real Thoroughbreds, dark bays tend to be registered dark bay or dark brown, and the browns don't have black points (Dynaformer for example is a brown). And blacks that have any type of brown around the muzzle are registered as dark bays (Sunday Silence is a true black, but was registered as a dark bay/brown horse due to the brown on his muzzle) That's why I was asking about the mare I just bought lol.
