But yeah it drives me bat shit crazy seeing people type "u" instead of "you", or "da" for "the". I normally can figure out what people are saying when they do the chat speak stuff. The only things I'll really tollerate being sent to me in a text or chat speak is lol (because laugh out loud is a bit much to type out), WTH, WTF, IDK, and a few others. Some are due to the lenght of typing them out, the others are more for polite people who really don't want to swear.
Yeah, the basic chatspeak, like what's allowed here in chat, is perfectly tolerable(No way I'm typing laugh out loud to indicate mild amusement) but when sentences are like "R u goin 2 da str?" I'm lost xD And I understand the not wanting to swear thing; sometimes I'll opt to use tf instead of typing it out just because when abbreviated it's a little more lighthearted and joking.

Oh my, that'd drive me nuts xD That doesn't even seem that difficult to grasp and memorize! I think french, with its strict language regulations and whatnot preventing slang from popping up so quickly as english, for example, makes it the only language safe from the brainrot. (Doesn't mean it's any easier to learn though x'D) |
