I want to go curl up with my cat in a warm bed and cuddle but I know I won't sleep through the night if I go to bed this early.

I wish I had never left Vermont. Being in Florida with no friends sucks. I no longer have a job. Can't find one, I think it's because I am 69 years old. I'm not old and frail I can do almost anything I used to do, except for working on cement floors. I have a sister here, but she is slowly removing me from her life and will be moving withing the next few years to Atlanta, GA. Even most of my friends from here are gone and when I do comment on chat I'm pretty much ignored. I don't play sports, not in good enough shape for most of them. I used to bowl but because of a broken elbow and two surgeries to fix nerves I haven't tried to yet. Can't afford it even if I wanted to. I'm on my forth viewing of Vampire Diaries and have watched every series that I want to watch. I want to go home but can't, I own my house here and my husband doesn't want to move again. When my sister moves I will have absolutely no one except him and that is not a pleasant prospect.

I absolutely feel you since I am in a somewhat similar boat. Are there no hobbies you can pick up in the area you live in? I dont know if you have access to a car or anything to get out of the house.

I'm always happy to see you here. <3 Even if I'm not a RL friend able to hang out with you down in Florida, just know that you're a HEE treasure along with all the other veterans who've stuck with it through the years.

Mustang, we love having you in our Community! We are all here for you. I find it's hard to make friends in the adult world. Is there a senior center near you? They usually have activities for older folks. Maybe a source of new friends?

Thank you! I try not to go anywhere due to lack of funds for gas. I do have a vehicle but it sits most of the time. What I really want to do is get back to work, but no one wants to hire me. I get interviews, but it goes no further. Old age really sucks! Most of my time these days is on computer or Kindle playing games. Most people my age have a hard time with computer's. My husband is one of the worst and pretty much every day I have to help him.

Are there any places near you where you can volunteer untill you have found a paying job? Maybe they could cover gas money. That way you can meet some people in your area.

I hard agree with finding volunteer work. It will keep you busy while also get you connections that could lead to job opportunities. I was born in Florida, moved away for a long time but went back at 21 to see if I liked it. I honestly hated living there so much, for multiple reasons. Although I think my happiness really boiled down to a lack of community around me and the fact that I isolated myself a lot. I now live in Colorado and have put myself out there, and the experience has been so different for me. I hope you are able to find that for yourself and I believe you're never too old or young for these type of experiences in life. I wish you the best!

Me and my sister both moved, seperately, to new places.
My sister joined a local walking group (good knees), and attended their Christmas do. Was really looking forward to it when I spoke to her the other day. Has met and gossiped with many new people.
I moved into a new place. Plenty of opportunity to volunteer, if it were not for bad knees, I could pull out non native plants or join walking groups or riding groups.
But have joined the local leasure centre/gym and improved my fitness and made new friends in the yoga group. We go for coffee and gossip about life and family and hobbies.
Barbara, 80 years old, moved into our street last May from Calgary Canada. Has joined the local methodist church and the leasure centre (we go to same 'for ever fit' class). She joined us for our street ladies Christmas lunch. We were well nosey, an impromptu idea of going to the rodeo is still ripling around. Gosh we all admire her move all on her own. She said Calgary was boring and cold and she has some family here (England).
Get yourself out there, we all need new chums, there will be takers for you too.
