Not sure if anyone else has heard of Pure Gold Stables but there's been some media flying around recently that I can't entirely wrap my head around. If anyone doesn't know what happened, there's a stable in Ohio that had recently had some word (and pictures; but I wouldn't go searching for them unless you've got a strong gut), of multiple dead and decomposed starving horses found on the grounds. It's absolutely vile and disgusting seeing and hearing what has happened but so many parts of this story that I'm seeing aren't adding up or making any sense. How does a multi-million dollar facility get away with not feeding their horses? How did nobody notice the obvious absence of these large animals, or hell, the stench of decomposing bodies? They've had multiple reports about animal abuse and neglect over recent years but how it's gotten this far without any consequences is beyond me. I can't imagine how horrible it must've been for those horses and I truly wish the worst on whoever let them go like that.

Since reading your forum post here, I've read through several articles on the matter. There's still a lot of questions that the articles don't cover. What I gathered is... A person that was interested in leasing the property discovered the deceased horses in stalls that had been built inside of a round pen (presumably a covered round pen, based on what I could see from google maps.) This would explain why visitors would not have seen them. The deceased horses were wearing winter blankets which means they most likely died last winter. The land owner claimed that the current property Leaser was in charge of the horses' care for the past two months. The land owner speculated that the deceased horses had most likely been poisoned by someone else at the barn. These things raise so many more questions. What really happened to those poor horses? Who was the owner of them? If they were poisoned why are there no official reports? Why were the carcasses not buried/disposed of properly? I cant believe the owners who are trying to play victims online. You are not the victim babes. How fucking hard is it to check on your horse 1-2 times a week? Dont trust the facility to take proper care of your horse. How does your horse die LAST WINTER and you only find out about it now?? Probably shouldnt have owned horses in the first place, IMO. These people are absolutely ridiculous. The only victims here are the horses.
