So, we bought ourselves a nice enough ranch last year, still fixing it up and in the process of moving. The land is nice, 53 acres, 2 houses, but the neighbors are kinda shit. Anyway, not the greatest location in terms of surrounding crackheads, but oh well. Anyway, we have StarLink up there (love it btw, highly recommend!) as the house is in sort of a bowl out in the boonies, where most internet companies can't do shit. We have cameras, and have seen people sneaking around and literally putting OUR stuff in backpacks, called the sheriffs, yada yada, they let the bastards go despite trespassing and attempted theft. Now, we hadn't gotten any camera notifications in 6 days, and StarLink said it was disconnected. It's NEVER had any issues before, so my stepdad made the 4 hour drive up there earlier today. Got there maybe half an hour ago, and just called my mother. Well, some dumbass lowlifes had the audacity to break it, stole the f*cking router, broke into the safe, stole whatever was in it, and took my mother's gun. Mind you, StarLink stuff ain't cheap, so now we gotta deal with this on top of our house down here catching fire, but that's another rant. Too much bad shit's happened in the past 2 years alone and not enough good. -House fire, gonna take ~6 months to be able to move back in. -Ranch gets broken into, stuff stolen and damaged. -Mare colics and dies, whom we've had for 20 years, since she was 2. -Now, one of our goats is sick and it ain't looking good. -My grandfather passed away ealier this year. Update Aug 4th: Stepdad called again, looks like the bastards broke into our sealand container, and we've got quads, go-karts, lawn movers, etc in it 🙃 now he's gotta make sure everything's there, and hopefully the sheriffs will be able to catch the idiots. They'd been scoping the place out for WEEKS already before making their move. - - Update Aug 7th: The sick goat previously mentioned? She was put down today. Vet said it had affected her brain or was neurological or something, and there was nothing that could be done. She was almost 13, which in itself is impressive. Rest in peace, Peaches, you will be missed</3 |
