I'm at a frustration right now. Or, more like a brick wall. That I don't feel motivation to try and cross.

When I moved, my art tablet was lost, and nobody from the moving company felt the need to step forwards and tell me where it was. When it was found, the box was RUINED to the point I thought it was destroyed. Fearing the worst, I ordered a new one ASAP to get back to art.

It seems I'm rusty after the month or so I haven't had time. My Photoshop updated, ruining all the comforts of the tools I had known. It refuses to go back, saying "version out of date." Well no duh, out of date, I didn't WANT the up-to-date one. I can't body prep OR repaint right now, they both look horrendous! And this is the core aspect of my art.

I'm frustrated and heartbroken. What do I even do at this point?

I dont know how long you have argued with the new updates but if the answer is for not long, then I suggest to sit down and try being more stubborn than your art program.

Yes, while I understand that its time consuming and frustrating (and also very painful), I also think that this process can help you come up with things you havent tried/done before.

It's been a couple of days now. Photoshop. I think it's Windows 11, and not Photoshop itself. Photoshop itself hadn't moved anywhere until Windows 11 came up even after being told not to, and pushed Photoshop forward to the correct version. I fought this for a while, and gave up. After another PC update after the move- it has automatically updated Photoshop, too. It appears to be a Windows tab telling me that the that the version is out of date. I can't figure out how to get it to screw off and let me go back anyways. Both "OK" and "cancel" don't change the outcome- the window closes and nothing changes.

You can do it Versa!! I'd also recommend diung a long search to see if anyone has a way to get it back, or even see if photoshop plans on making the older version available :D and if thise don't work, I fully believe you will be able to adapt to the new version, you're an amazing artist <3

And you dont have access to an old version of photoshop?

No, since it updated itself after my PC updated. Or rather, I think Windows is causing it, and not Photoshop. Photoshop itself wouldn't update unless I told it to, whereas Windows seems to be pushing updates on all of my applications.

There IS a way to select an older version which tells me Adobe isn't against the idea. So it's gotta be my PC emphasizing that the version is old, and won't go back. It didn't do this before Windows 11, which forced itself upon my PC, which is what leads me to think it's Windows specifically.

Learning while frustrated is only going to make this worse for you. Sit down, take a deep breath, and pick an easy project. Something stupid easy. Maybe it's a fork shaped like a horse. Maybe it's a cup. Something that you're not going to try to sell, something that doesn't matter if you mess up- and then use that to figure out the art program.

Learning curves are uncomfortable, and it'd be ideal if you could go back to your old version of photoshop, but inevitably something happens and it'll update another time anyways. Give yourself some grace during this time and take away the pressure while re-learning it. You'll pick it up faster when you stop pushing yourself.
