Yeah, Athena. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday about why being informed and asking questions is so important, because no one will advocate for and be invested in your health more than you. It's why I support self-dx to a point, because sometimes doctors just miss or refuse to agree with the potential for certain diagnoses, which sucks

I would not be at all surprised if I'm anemic or my body isnt using the iron I eat
Gaelic Gladiacres
Yeah that sounds a little alarming to me Athena. I've seen a story from an author on Tumblr who almost didn't make it because her iron was so low (like insanely low) and I think it was indicative of ME? I can't recall exactly--and not trying to scare you, just trying to think of what I've seen that you could possibly ask the doctor about 😅

I sent my doctor a followup message asking if it we could look into the other test results more so we'll see. I guess I have to remember that even though shes the doctor it is my body

I second getting ahead of thyroid issues. My mother had hers removed due to cancer in her 40s. I've had ultrasounds done on mine because it is enlarged but there are currently no issues

A family member of mine is trying to deal with thyroid issues right now, and it's absolutely something to try to get ahead of before things take a turn, if possible

Void Thats also a good point Em Actually iron is on the low end of normal. Its the binding stuff thats too high and saturation is too low Glad I've had people asking if I have thyroid problems for years but no doctor ever wants to explore it more because even though the numbers keep getting lower they're still normal. Just barely in the normal range now.

Might be a good thing to bring up, just to be sure that's the goal
Gaelic Gladiacres
Athena - yeah that's definitely a problem. I've fired a number of doctors because I just didn't feel like we had the kind of relationship that built comfort and trust. And I do agree on the story of the low thyroid stuff. I have a number of friends with (formerly) unspecified chronic fatigue who have had to go through the winger to figure out what's wrong
The Old Gods
keep in mind that blood tests are only a snapshot and blood levels can fluctuate during the course of the day
Silver Melody Acres
From some research, it seems B12 deficiency can cause low iron, so they might be trying to see if they can get two birds with one stone
Sunset River Arabian
I think I'm just a little worried she doesnt care or is ignoring an actual problem. I've yet to find a doctor who even listens to me during a visit without rushing me or making me feel small and dumb.
