The first year of college is always the roughest. The class set up is different, there's less emphasis on homework (for the most part) and more emphasis on studying, projects, and tests. It's also very easy to become overwelmed between everything that needs to be done. MC gave some really good advice, already. I think the only thing I can add is to just remember to take time for yourself. Even if it's just your favorite coffee with extra syrup. The good brain chemicals tend to be drained when you're stressed and something small like that can be a massive boost. I'd also recommend looking into little creative activities to help with stress and anxiety. I did a lot of adult coloring books in pharm school with gel pens. The repetition and scratchy feedback of some of the pens was nice. Stressed brains tend to ruminate on what has them stressed which causes more stress and it turns into a nasty negative feedback loop. So, it can help to refocus your brain onto something else. Me? I like video games with quests or where I have to gather items to build something (Stardew Valley is wonderful). I'm too busy focusing on what I need to do to focus on my stress, which breaks to feedback cycle and allows me to come back with a fresh perspective on things. Just make sure you don't fall into the escapism (setting a timer is helpful).
