Trigger Warning - dog death My parents rescued a pup (Ellie), who was about 8-10mo as of today, from a junkie family member, most siblings were lost to parvo before they took Ellie. She was a beautiful ball of crack cocaine energy. Unfortunately, we had to go by and check up on the junkie family member to make sure they were alive as no one had heard from them for a while. Unfortunately we didn't clean our clothing and skin as well as we thought. Ellie caught parvo and was very sickly the past few days. This morning she passed before we could have someone come and euth her. My parents live rural and I've only come out for a two week holiday, the nearest emergency vet was 400+km away and the normal vet is only in town Wednesday-Friday.
Everyone is a little bit devastated by what's happened but she was my little sisters dog through and through and I'm not entirely sure how she's handling it. She seems okay for now, maybe it hasn't quite hit her what happened. We didn't let her see Ellie at her worst. Im going to take all the other dogs to get parvo booster shots as soon as the vet opens.
