I have this boyo whom I want to reroll into the dark flaxen chestnut variation. But here's the thing... I've never seen the version of dark liver chestnut with roan AND flaxen. Is dark flaxen roan a possible color?

Out of curiosity I searched for 'dark flaxen' coloured horses. All are 'dark flaxen chesnut'. Some with sabino or appalossa. No silver dun or roan mentions. So I think that like silver gets hidden also roan and dun are hidden and will only be revealed on gene testing. However my only two examples of dark flaxen are both dd rnrn. So maybe it does not show as dark flaxen unless thay are dd + rnrn. Awaiting an expert to drop by. Meanwhile I'll check out the genetic lists on the forum. Back later.... Ah, chesnut is always dd + rnrn And flaxen is just a random alternate colur showing with chestnut genetics See the forum Edited at September 8, 2025 01:44 PM by ZeroZero

Thank you^^ I am aware of the genetics behind the red roans, my question is if the dark flaxen variation of the chestnut will be rolled on a roan horse.

I looked through 80 dark flaxen liver chestnuts and none of them had roan. If you search for "dark flaxen liver chestnut roan" in horse color, none come up 🤷🏼♀️

Yup I've tried searching with so many combination of words that could possibly be this color but none ever came up... It's why I thought about asking, maybe someone knows what's up with this mystery :D Gem said: I looked through 80 dark flaxen liver chestnuts and none of them had roan. Never will re-rolling a roan get a dark flaxen chestnut. Re-rolling will not remove the dominant Rn.
