Hello! I realise I should start planning RO a little better, so I feel like I need to stop throwing my girls at studs based purely on vibes. I don't have a huge selection of broodmares, but my current batch includes a couple of EEEs, a few more EEPs and one awkwardly rated AWW wildie ( Oakmoss Simplicity A|W|W) My main question is, is matching particularly important at this 'level'? I strongly doubt any of these girls will give me a WWW, so I don't feel like I need to forensically analyse who I put them to. Is it enough just to vaguely match strengths and weaknesses (most of them seem weaker in Mv + Int, so aiming for studs stronger in these if possible), rather than tailoring matches to each mare? Any advice greatly appreciated, and if anyone has any idea on how to make my AWW girl more useful (short of trying to breed that A out), that would be awesome :') Edited at December 23, 2025 08:17 AM by Oakmoss Stud

I'd look for a EWW+ RID brood for a match to focus on if thats in the cards for you, then breed the EEE girls to the highest RID LB stud that allows EEE mares and go from there. I wouldnt focus on the AWW as the A is going to prove super difficult to breed up, BUT if yu want to for funsies, I'd breed to the highest Dressage LB (yet AD trained and rated) RID stud that would allow those ratings.

What Capp said! Also for your main question, yes, even at lower ratings, matching matters - perhaps even more than when putting two strong WWW's together, since EEEs are significantly weaker and breeding up from lower ratings is hard. Be as thorough as you can about matching - not just finding a dressage strong stud if your mare is weak in dressage, but specifically one who is strong in the traits your mares are weak in. Thank you both! I'm definitely aiming for an EWW+ brood when funds allow, and I think I have fairly good matches for my EEE girls now. I'll throw my AWW mare to a decent stud for funsies, purely as a bit of a project to see if I can breed up that A, but definitely not holding out on her 😂 Guess the rest is up to the RF gods!
