Dixie walked around. she was bored, as almost always, and thought of a game. she lowered her head and scared a cricket, following it and sniffing it, trying to scare it into a small patch of dirt acting as her goal, but when the cricket jumped onto her muzzle, she lifted her head quickly and stared at it. she watched it as it hung on for dear life. she lowered her head and it jumped away. she looked up and quietly slipped into the tree line, standing so still that a bird perched on her withers. she looked at it out of the corner of her eye. she loved wildlife. she had a way with birds; they were somewhat attracted to her, that's what Firefly always said. birds were never at the barn, but when Dixie was there, Firefly could hear the birds singing

West finally straightened out, took a deep breeath, and leaped forward into a gallop. He ignored the piercing pain in his leg, going as fast as he could... which wasn't that fast
