I'd say what happened to me is rare. So to be honest, I'm unsure if more/less safe can be answered. As long as it isn't showing signs of being a problem, you're fine either way. Just maybe don't use rechargeable "cat" brands specifically |

I have a couple of battery operated laser pointers for my cats, are they safer than rechargeable laser pointers |

I just won't use the rechargeable "cat friendly" brands anymore. I'm just going to get a normal laser pointer. It's "cat friendly" enough when just avoiding his face lol. |

It didn't heat up to an extreme or anything beforehand. No warning signs during use or charging. Just exploded |
