It also doesn't help that, with the small snippets where a horse could've bucked or reared due to an unknown reason or god forbid a teenage is riding a pony that any equestrian familiar with size and weight for a horse would recognize, some "online trainer" somewhere feels the need to bash the rider because the horse is" in pain" or "is green and needs more handling before being ridden under saddle." It sickens me going through comments on videos. Especially when non-equestrians pop in...

Ari exactly, same goes with dog breeders too most ethical people breed to maintain good form and health but all you hear about is puppy mills and puts breeders as a whole in a bad light to a lot of people.

Even well respected and seasoned horsemen once in a while should go back to the basics and establish more bonding and humble themselves. Everyone can do with a bit of humbling once in a while. We often lose sight of the small things as humans

I agree Quality, and oftentimes because of phone cameras etc people film the bad apples and try to paint everyone in the same light when in reality it's a few shitty trainers in a big field of really good horse people

I feel like there is nothing wrong with the horse industry as a whole. Some bad apples ruin the reputation but is often a very small percentage of the horse loving community.

In the end, its what's best for the horses not the people riding them. Horses didnf choose to be riden but they tolerate it

With that all said, there's no use trying to sway someone's opinion, especially without proven research and valid examples. The rules of horse racing are updated when problems arise and they are strictly enforced.

I think there are many people in the horse world who've lost touch with the animals and human bonds.....a lot of people need to go back to the basics

I think there is always a stigma in any hobby really and opinions that always clash against each other.

Well I can assure you that I have not witnessed the kinds of things you are talking about amongst my competitors and peers, so I'm glad that the things you've seen and talked about are not universal and mostly localised problems

I'm not the most experienced in chat, but I have heard stories, done personal research, and worked with horses enough to know at least a fraction of the industry. Yes, it's messy, but that's how horse racing, dog showing, cattle roping, and any other animal sport/hobby is. There's always someone against it, and there's always someone for it.

Caden stepped down from the trailer, his boots hitting the dusty ground with a quiet thud. Beside him, Elysia, the dark bay stallion, shifted restlessly, sensing the anticipation in the air. The semi-qualifiers were just ahead, a vast arena buzzing with excitement and the hum of competition. Caden ran a hand along Elysia’s sleek coat, grounding both himself and the horse as they prepared to face the challenge. Elysia snorted, eyes bright with both curiosity and the promise of performance. The sound of hooves striking the gravel echoed, and Caden adjusted his grip on the reins. The stallion stood tall, proud, ready to show the world what they could do. Today, they were a team, and nothing else mattered.

Emma pat Lexi, content to wait for their class. She sighed, not knowing what this specific show would bring. What if she refuses a jump? Or gets hurt? Please no...... She thought, brushing off her show clothes. She went over to the brushes and organized them by type, then color. Really she was just finding thingsto do as she didn't know when she would be competing today. She then grabbed a snack before sitting on a chair next to the trailer and eating it.

Caden Ortiz
Caden’s nerves were steady as he trotted Elysia, his powerful dark bay stallion, around the warm-up ring. The air was thick with excitement, but Caden trusted Elysia’s focus, knowing the horse had always risen to the challenge. They approached the first jump with perfect timing, Elysia's hooves hitting the ground lightly before launching over the obstacle with grace. The crowd’s cheers faded as Caden zeroed in on the next few jumps, his hands steady on the reins. With each hurdle, Elysia soared effortlessly, his strength and agility unmatched. The final jump loomed ahead—a tricky combination—but Caden and Elysia were in sync. With a burst of power, the stallion cleared it flawlessly, landing smoothly. Together, they had conquered the course.

Caden praised the stallion, looking back and seeing they'd only knocked one pole. He beamed, turning the horse into a circle and slowing to a walk before riding back to the warm up arena to cool out. The man didn't really care if he made it the Invitational, just cared he rode well and him and Elysia were in sync.
