And I'm Kelly. Today we have eight women and men about to take on the blood rushing event of barrel racing! Within a few short seconds they must charge around three barrels in the classic cloverleaf pattern.
If you haven't seen this event before - don't blink! You'll miss the entire run - these competitors are just that fast.
Are you ready folks? I can't hear you!
Raise the roof for our racers! They need to know you're out there cheering them on.
You know, the horses get jazzed up hearing the crowd clap and yell too.
Here We Go!
First in the arena is Maisy Smith on her horse Sound of Madness. They've got a lot of pressure on them as they're starting this jackpot off. Oo-ee, look how they just shot around barrel number one. So smooth, so fast! On to barrel two. Oh No! Just slid in too deep to that one and nothing was stopping that barrel from toppling.
And Maisy rounds out her run at 18.22 seconds plus the 5 second penalty. Tough luck.
Raring to go is Lina oconal and smart chicks style. A young horse who's got a lotta style.
In through the first turn and out of the second. They are flying! Just about as smooth as glass as they churn that third barrel. Come on folks bring them home!
That's a great time - 17.44 seconds.
Here we go with Clarissa Houdini and the Mysical Magical. They sure are about to dance around this pattern.
Starting off with taking the pattern on the left. That's a really nice snappy first barrel. Can they keep it up for the rest? A bobble on the second barrel, as long as it doesn't fall over... all is good.
That was a nice run put on by Clarissa but not fast enough to take first with a time of 17.65 seconds.
Now up is River Oak Brooks and horse Will o' the wisp.
I like that name! And the spotty body. Roly poly get the wheels a rollin'!
Uh, okay Tim.... She really brings out the best in every horse she's on. Swift through the second. And they're on to the third! Great skills of this jockey getting them through.
That's enough to bring them to the top at 17.34 seconds.
Sierra McAllister on Code Red is in the alley. They've been on the circuit with great times. Can they repeat that here tonight?
They are all fire as they blaze through that first turn. You can see how square in the saddle she is, really helps out here horse. See her here, through the second turn. Made the last turn and they are heading for home!
I think I blinked, because I about missed that run! A time of 17.31 puts them in first.
It's tractor drag time. To keep it fair to all competitors, the pattern is raked to take out any deep spots.
And we're back! Here's Natalie Nicks and Nugget ready to rock and roll. They run on the South Circuit and joining us for the ALL OUT Jackpot.
He's a true palomino powerhouse as they barrel down the alley to the first turn. Oof, a bit wide to that barrel. Can they make it up?
Not enough to reach the top. A time of 17.76 seconds.
Ahh yes, it's Ted Geisel and Makin Mustang. Another lefty in the arena.
Yessir! Go!
That's too bad, they really slipped in that second barrel. But out they come to make up that time. Smooth turn on the third but it looks like they just couldn't make up enough to hit that third spot.
Clean round though, at 17.63 seconds.
One more to go - it's Forest Wilson and SR Flaming Speeds. They've got the advantage being last to go.
Look right there; boom they're around the first barrel.
This horse is definitely one with the most heart. They get through the second but just can't make it up with the third.
Everyone make some noise as they finish up their run with a time of 17.72 seconds.
That's all eight of our competitors. The top three are going home with nice checks tonight. And to think of it, so am I!
