The Ensnared Stag Standing in a crumbling ruin is a golden horse with white horns as large as an eagle. Leafy vines grow over the various pillars and broken walls, nature taking over the once overbearing structure. The horse's coat as golden as the suns rays shining on him, his white mane and tail a stark contrast. Vines entangle his limbs and torso, snaking up his neck. His longing for freedom is evident in his frozen pose, forever stuck in forward movement, with one leg in the air but unable to escape his fate. Mischievous Pixie In a river beside a tranquil blue forest with imposing white trees, there's a sudden disturbance. Splashing, water droplets translucent in the moonlight from a small wave behind her, a mare is playfully moving on the surface of the river. Sparkles of starlight are reflecting in her coat, a coat a pale blue color that almost appears as pure white. Her mane and tail cascading onto the water in long ribbons. She dances to the rhythm of the frogs croaking and the crickets chirping, carefree in her ways. A mischievous glint in her pale white eyes. For she has just started her night of fun. |

How exciting to see another one of these being hosted! Thank you Gem! You like chonky?? I raise you my new top SD RID girl who is awfully deserving of some gorgeous artwork! I'm picturing something super heavenly for her, a color palette that is soft but also bright and powerful [white/orange/soft yellow/soft pink/forest green]. I want her shiny coat to be absolutely gleaming (no roan, a huge win for SD RID!) against a background of soft white, orange, and pink clouds with flowers like marigolds or poppies in the foreground. I'm picturing that forest green coming into play with a huge tree in the background, something like an ancient oak or weeping willow [y'know, heavenly tree of life vibes]. So essentially she would be depicted as this soft, powerful goddess of life. I don't have an exact pose in mind but based on the rest of my idea I'm thinking a more still sort of a pose would suit this landscape best [standing/looking back/lowered head/a softer walk/stuff in that category]. No wings because I adore her coat and want to see her pattern, but feel free to alter the sabino a bit to something more whimsical! Then of course, a long flowing mane and tail to complete the goddess vibes, and I think some sort of dark emerald accessories in her hair would look incredible <3 |

Trying this out lol. Forever Tree: I was trying to write a story back in November (ish) and I have since moved on to something else, but I had written out this really lovely sort of uncanny valley field and forest. I think it would be pretty cool to get an all cuts piece of a Ojibwe Spirit Horse (they have a strong meaning to me, though it can be any horse really if it's easier on you) by or in front of the Forever Tree. I have it written down a whole lot more detailed in the story which I can give you if this is chosen lol. But with trying to take it out of the story: The Forever Tree is a giant evergreen oak with foxglove hung through the branches like banners for decoration. Betony flowers are planted in a near perfect circle around the base of the tree. The ground around it is short healthy green grass with purple & yellow coneflowers, dropwort, yarrow and buttercups scattered around. Soft Sunbeams: I had to google draft horses, but I absolutely adore the chonkiness too :3 This one is a lot shorter and simpler of an idea, but I think a cinnamon sugar sprinkle (one of the brown dust horses w/ more white around the underside/faces, i don't know what to call them but they're pretty cute lol) standing in an autumn forest would look pretty cool. I enjoy lighting so soft sunbeams filtering through the leaves would look very peaceful and serene and I think that'd look lovely ❤ I love fantasy things, but I'm not sure what to add for this one. So if you're good with antlers, fantasy type markings from maybe other animals? (like adding stripes) I'd love those types of things, but honestly whatever fantasy things you'd want to go with ^^" might come back with another idea later.. I'll post here if I do and just add on ^^' I think I'm good for now though lol |

Idea I've had for a while <3 Horse is standing in or near lake/pond this sorta vibe, https://lensdump.com/i/tUJSii see how the pond is close but not active it's pretty still and calm, the horse is a chonk, (I love chonks, but have no Chonky art really. The Horse is a galaxy like the coat is made up of the galaxy, and it has wings if possible the wings are out, horse is facing the viewer and is standing still, I love the glowing eyes as well! <3 Thanks for this oppurtunity Gem! Idea 2/3/4? Taylor Swift theme, not a swiftie, but in her song "look what you made me do" I love the scence where she is surrounded by snakes so maybe a white horse with a long horn and black/dark green snakes all around it's sorta dark, and the snakes are all over and wrapping around the horses legs, and up the horse, maybe in a dark green/white temple with ivy around? Will edit in a bit :D |

Obviously I have to give it a go... Ragnarök themed art for Ragnarök of course. Forgive my rambling please :P So theres this quote I've had stuck in my head for years and I have no idea where I heard it but its something along the lines of 'and the ground below shall become as ice and the sky above a sea of fire'. In my head I'm picturing a vast wasteland, covered in snow and ice, maybe a lake with ships frozen in the water in the background and a valley or mountain with a few sparse trees covered in snow and ice in the foreground. Not sure about the background stuff. Might be too much. Very cold maybe some low fog along the ground. And the sky looks like billowing puffs of fire. Maybe starting in the distance rushing towards the viewer. Not too much smoke, I dont want the piece too blurry and dark. And the horse will be like replacing Fenrir almost. I'm imagining him giant compared to everything else anyway. Lots of hair and feathers. I'm thinking of him laying down, looking like a mountain covered in snow and ice, maybe a tree growing on him and the art will catch him in the process of getting up, the snow and ice falling off. Not sure if I want chains or not. Maybe just a broken one around his neck? A gold one. You can tweak his shade of chesnut and his rabi however you want. I'm not attached to any of his color in anyway. |

I Will Leave A Light On. The composition is visually divided into two distinct halves. One side is dominated by a deep, black void with almost no environmental detail. Shapes dissolve into darkness and are barely readable. This void is active and unstable, visually resembling a black hole: wind, dust, or abstract energy is visibly being pulled towards the darkness, creating a sense of force and loss of control. From within this darkness, a stoic horse is shown in full body. The horse is mid-stride, physically emerging from the void. Its posture is controlled and intentional. Head pushing back against the pressure, body aligned towards the light. Their expression calm and determined rather than panicked. The horse is moving toward the opposite side of the composition, where a clear, bright light source exists. The light should be strong and directional, illuminating the horses front half and clearly defining its silhouette against the darkness behind it. This contrast should visually separate chaos from clarity, darkness from hope. This piece is dedicated to anyone experiencing hardship. It represents how overwhelming and out of control life can feel at times, while emphasizing the idea that there is still light ahead and the strength to move toward it. |

Okayy I have a vision, here me out on this one xD a draft horse with elk-style antlers made of glowing embers and ash Dark soot-colored body (not too dark though, keep it so It's not a silhouette) with faint crack lines glowing orange beneath standing in a burned forest regrowing with tiny green sprouts pushing through ash. An extra thing you could add is like gold jewelry melted and kind of warped onto the antlers, kind of like the vibe in Moana, Te Kā x Te Fiti, I think it'd be awesome, it'd be so great if you could do it, I think you'd really bring it to life, thanks for hosting this Gem! |

Thank you for hosting!! What a lovely contest <3 Demon Lord: I've had an idea for a few months now. My new TB boy just hit the ABLB and he is named after a fantasy character. I'd love to get some art inspired by him! The overall vibe I'm looking for is dark, moody, and powerful. Ideal color palette is red, black and pink. A nightime piece would be really cool, but not necessary. The location I'm imagining is outside a Japanese temple/shrine/gate. Background details like weather/lighting/nature/etc are flexible. Potential background ideas: torrii gate, another gate, small temple, or gate/temple. If you want a no-building route, I'd say the horse should standing in dark water with a stormy, red sky. Feel free to bump up the spooky factor with some scattered bones and whatnot. I don't have a specific horse pose in mind, as long as it's not laying down. Standing/rearing/walking/etc are all good! The character the horse is named after has some distinct markings, I'd really like to see these included on the horse's face. You could even make the mane/tail pink, but that's not necessary. |

This is so kind of you Gem <3 Idea #1 - Virtue & Vice (inspired by Yin & Yang) To give a bit of background, I am an avid enjoyer of philosophical literature and would love to have a piece of art to represent this for my stable. The idea I envision is, two horses--that display virtue and vice--walking side by side. Similarly to the concept of yin and yang, these would represent the idea of opposing but complementary forces. Vice would be a dark horse while virtue a pale horse. On virtue's side of the piece all things beautiful would be displayed (creative liberty allowed here, would love your interpretation of this). On vice's side I envision the depths of pride and the pitfalls of mankind. This can be taken more symbolically then the actual seven sins. For example hades would be a personification of the outcome of vice while heaven the supposed outcome of virtue. The piece does not need to be white and black, but I would expect stark contrast between light and dark (virtue and vice). I would also love to see a gray area between the two horses to represent that not everything is a black and white choice and sometimes a path may be taken that combines a bit of virtue and vice. I envision dramatic lighting for this piece with stark contrast between the two sides. I prefer more muted colors on the side of virtue to preserve the purity of the idea. On the side of vice I imagine more dark and wild colors to convey the chaos that comes with it. I hope this helps you picture what I see!
Idea #2 - The Eyes Chico, They Never Lie This idea comes from combining one of my favorite works of art (Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel) with one of my favorite movies (Scarface). I love the idea presented in the movie Scarface, of how the eyes never lie. The concept is that no matter how good you are at hiding your emotion, the eyes will give it away. I see this demonstrated brilliantly in the painting Fallen Angel. The eyes tell a story of their own aside from the defensive posturing presented by the body language. There is pain, anger, resolution, determination, even a touch of sadness. It displays the complexity of man and his determination, an idea elaborated on in the movie Scarface. I would love to see a piece that synthesises this. Perhaps a recreation of the fallen angel painting with a horse. I am leaving this more open ended because I would love to see you come up with your own story that displays a dichotomy between the eyes and the posturing. I want there to be an emphasis on the eyes and visible emotion, regardless what emotion you choose to convey. Would love to see this brought to life with you interpretation! |

alice in chains (not really but you get the idea) alright hear me out on this one--- setting is a dark, overgrown cave with a hole at the top, a full moon is shining brilliantly inside the cave, illuminating the space below. in that column of light, is our subject, a very unique colored horse, perhaps a buckskin sabino, perhaps a grullo tobiano. this big chonk has some good 'ol feathers on all four legs, nice thick mane and tail, tail is somewhat shorter, mane is roached with overgrown forelock ending near the jaw. the horse is halfway rearing, each of it's hooves tangled in chains connected to the cave floor. a shining green eye peaks out from strands of the forelock, staring into the camera. a sword dangles from its mouth, a battle fought, a victory lost---and the one thing supposed to save it has failed---as the sword can't break the chains.a raven sits perched from the hole at the top, gazing down at the subject. ferns creep around the edge of the photo, unfocused as they're closer. oh and also, a Rotten Apple or a Nutshell somewhere would be great ;) thank you so much for this opprotunity Gem and congrats to whoever wins <3 |
