yeaaah. My attitude with wasps/hornets is "leave me alone, I'll leave you alone. Attack me, I'll destroy you."

re: honey collection
A responsible bee keeper will leave more than enough honey for the hive to get through winter/feed the brood

Wasps/hornets are the actual worst. I appreciate they serve a purpose, but they are just... angry jerks who delight in causing fear

is the capture day today?

I always have a lingering fear of stepping on a hidden underground nest of hornets or wasps or whatever somewhere in our gardens because it happened to me in the past

I stand corrected then. Either way, meat honey probably falls on the side of definitely not vegan xD

So, I think the only real time they might chase someone is if their hive was disturbed, but the video didn't mention anything about aggression levels

But they are able to make enough to sustain the hive even with collection

Honey isn't a waste product for them at all
Minerva
09:07:24 Min
I think the debate is more focused on the exploitation side, since while it's an animal product, bees choose where they live and produce it as mostly a waste product (I believe- I'm not a bee expert xD)
The Old Gods

Vulture bees specifically eat rotting meat.

My mum keeps bees, hopefully she never finds out about the carnivorous kind - happy they exist, but they can keep existing far away

I didn't know vulture bees existed, but I knew butterflies eat corpses if given the chance.

If sustainable animal products like milk are not vegan then I wouldn't think honey is either, since it was made by animals. I have no idea though
Minerva

So do they just eat dead things or is there somewhere in the world where you might get hunted and eaten by a swarm of bees?

I guess I will join in with my puppies🙊

Boomer
Boomer is a 3-5 year old Lab mix. This dude showed up on our front porch and everything else is history.
He loves naps, his kennel, Toys and mud puddles.
He doesn't like male dogs (yes he loves Lyle)

Smores
Smores is a 12-16 year old Blue Heeler mix.
Smores was found running on the highway. Her owners gave us the ultimatum of keeping her or her being put down inhumanely. She is a huge part of our family now and we couldnt live without her.
She likes napping, potty time and harassing the other dogs.

Delilah aka Dede
We adopted Dede (1 year old mutt) back in August of 2024 after my heart dog passed away. I fell absolutely in love with her the moment I saw her curled up in the back of the kennel and she has been my baby every since.
Dede had a very traumatic experience so it took months of her warming up to us including eating.
She loves chasing her "brother" Lyle around the yard, her favorite chew toy (pink monkey) and snuggling in your lap.

Lyle Lyle Crocodile aka Lyle Croc or Lyle
We adopted Lyle (6 month old Shepherd mix) May 2025 after coming across his kennel and falling in love. We spent hours at the shelter with him before deciding that he was the perfect fit for us and our other dogs.
Lyle is a very chill and mellow dude.
He loves chasing his "sister" Dede around the yard, digging holes and licking you to death.

I have... a LOT of animals. a dog, 7 cats, 2 horses, 8 ponies, and more smaller critters I don't want to try to count right now >.< But here's pictures of Mongoose "Goose" :3 (I may be biased >,>)
He's a year old as of April-ish, and one of four foster kittens; I just couldn't give him away. He'd escape his enclosure to run either down 2 flights of stairs or to my room, climb my leg, and fall asleep in my lap before he was fully weaned off milk. His best friend is my dog, Dixie, and when they get to playing, he'll put a whooping on her with hardly a reaction in return xD
Fun fact! Goose is really bad at licking himself, pulling up tufts of fur at random, making himself all spiky lol

Do stray kitties I'm taking care of count? I'm going to sign them up as my cat colony <3
If so, guess I'll join :)

Kitkat and Pinecone :) Both siblings I've been taking care of since they were about 3 weeks old. Their mother and sister both passed, so keeping these two safe is very important to me <3
Kitkat is super chill, and Pinecone is the opposite xD He's the playful mischevious boy <3
