Unless I'm mistaken, it can depend a little on the breed as well? Such as some pony breeds tending to get quite old

I leased a horse and he lived to 38
Cloud Peak Stables

A quick Google search will tell you that the average life span of a horse is 25-30 years, so I would say the game is pretty accurate in that respect.
Sunset River Arabian
08:12:40 Athena - AAs
All the horses I've known passed by or around 25
Hobo Queens Farm
08:09:05 Her Majesty
I used to know a 38 year old who was 5 years retired from trail riding, but she insisted on following along on every trip riderless. She passed at 42, Average I've known pass at 38 unless they colic.
Mossy Lane Stables

I know lots of horses who have passed in their 20's
BlackMeadow Pastures
08:05:22
Well, most of my horses (personally and in the game) have passed at around 20. I have a gelding right now who's not doing great and he's like 22 I think. It honestly just depends on the horse.
Hobo Queens Farm
08:05:00 Her Majesty
Horses can pass at 2 or 4, but it's still sad. Like a human passing away in their 30-40's.
Ravenwood Farm
08:03:18
That's true. To save server space maybe?
The Old Gods
08:03:00 Void Malign
Cleans up the game. After a certain point, they're just going to sit in barns and take up space. That being said, horses absolutely can pass in their 20s
Circle Star RIDs
08:02:32 Granny C
Hobo - take it up with Eve.
Hobo Queens Farm
08:01:14 Her Majesty
I don't see why the horses pass so young in this game. The rest has a lot more realism, horses passing in their 20's is a bit ridiculous.

I don't think these have been suggested and I am not sure if you have read them yet, but I can add some scifi suggestions. I am not a fantasy reader so I can't add to that.
Anything by Andy Weir - Project Hail Mary is my all time favorite book I would die for this book lol, and The Martian is also really good! They are both scifi thrillers. (Very heavy on the science)
The Last Survivors series by Susan Beth Pfeffer (Life As We Knew It, The Dead and the Gone, and This World We Live In) - These books are so damn good! They are dystopian/apocolyptic books and I love them! (not zombies or whatever just regular life after the moon gets knocked closer to the earth and the world going to crap and the effects on nature because of it!) I have read the first two and I have the third to read soon, but I will add that I have heard the fourth is not good and doesn't contribute to the story line at all so I personally won't be reading the fourth.
This Delicious Death by Kayla Cottingham was really good too! I loved it. It is kind of like a zombie type book, but they are like normal people.
Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes - This is a really good scifi space thriller/horror book!
Oh I do have a couple fantasy recomendations. They are both by Stephen King - Fairy Tale and The Institution (less fatasy but about kids with powers) The Institution was amazing and Fairy Tale was pretty good.
Hope this helps someone!
(I can probably suggest more also if anyone PMs me lol)

I really enjoyed these!

The Stars are Dying by Chloe C. Peñaranda. She really went all out with this one! Super descriptive, gorgeous book in general with art and cover. It had a tons of twists and turns, unique magic (I'm sure there are similar ones but I haven't read them yet if so), and I loved the way she handled and wrote certain topics. Has Fae but not as important characters like in SJM's books, mostly paranormal but a super interesting blend of everything.

Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers. Haven't read it all the way through, but what I have is super descriptive and fast paced!

The Grishaverse (Shadow amd Bone trio) by Leigh Bardugo. Not super advanced, but it's definitely got a writing style that is easy to flow and relax with! Loved the system she has in it, though so personally thought the rise to power thing was similar to a lot of others haha

Sabaa Tahir's Ember in the Ashes set. Definitely unique and a I love that included a lot of diverse cultures in it! And that the main female character wasn't some super badass warriors and actually struggled in it, but still prevailed (even if only a bit)

The Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae. Loved it! Not as action packed as what I was used to with most of my books but it was a nice change of pace! I need the other ones haha

Caraval Series by Stephanie Garber. I liked the idea she had and it was also one of those slower books, I haven't finished the entire series but what I've read is far is good!

Blade Breaker by Victoria Aveyard. Red Queen strikes back haha. I haven't read it all the way through, just a few chapters. It's good, hasn't quite caught my attention though.

Definitely consider finishing Red Queen though before deciding on Blade Breaker, it really depends if you liked her writing in this one or not. The others really drop into a bunch of drama if I remember right (It's been a while so I might need to reread haha).

I just finished "When Among Crows" by Veronica Roth and am feeling insane it was SO SO SO good. It's a novella, so only 5 hours in audiobook, less than 200 pages long, but sooooo worth it.
