Unless I'm mistaken, it can depend a little on the breed as well? Such as some pony breeds tending to get quite old
Tenebris Hollow

I leased a horse and he lived to 38
Cloud Peak Stables

A quick Google search will tell you that the average life span of a horse is 25-30 years, so I would say the game is pretty accurate in that respect.
Sunset River Arabian
08:12:40 Athena - AAs
All the horses I've known passed by or around 25
Hobo Queens Farm
08:09:05 Her Majesty
I used to know a 38 year old who was 5 years retired from trail riding, but she insisted on following along on every trip riderless. She passed at 42, Average I've known pass at 38 unless they colic.
Mossy Lane Stables

I know lots of horses who have passed in their 20's
BlackMeadow Pastures
08:05:22
Well, most of my horses (personally and in the game) have passed at around 20. I have a gelding right now who's not doing great and he's like 22 I think. It honestly just depends on the horse.
Hobo Queens Farm
08:05:00 Her Majesty
Horses can pass at 2 or 4, but it's still sad. Like a human passing away in their 30-40's.
Ravenwood Farm
08:03:18
That's true. To save server space maybe?
The Old Gods
08:03:00 Void Malign
Cleans up the game. After a certain point, they're just going to sit in barns and take up space. That being said, horses absolutely can pass in their 20s
Circle Star RIDs
08:02:32 Granny C
Hobo - take it up with Eve.
Hobo Queens Farm
08:01:14 Her Majesty
I don't see why the horses pass so young in this game. The rest has a lot more realism, horses passing in their 20's is a bit ridiculous.

I think The 100 is also a book, since your a dystopian person :D I personally haven't read them yet, I'm going to watch it first.

I watched the show! I did start the book but it was basically the same so I never ended up reading it

Seconding Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson, I LOVED that book.
If you like Divine Rivals, then the Warm Hands of Ghosts would be another great read. I absolutely adored it and actually bought a physical copy after audiobooking it, it's gorgeous and scratched the itch that Divine Rivals tried and failed to really do well.

I have Divine Rivals a 1*... I liked the concept, but the execution was just not there. Not a lot of detail or a great progression of a relationship imo, and I still have no idea what the plot is lol. But I'll see about your suggestion!

Have you read Queen Bee by Amalie Howard? That's a good one that I recommend!
Another one I liked is A Deadly Education which is a nice trilogy by Naomi Novik

I've been reading the Powerless series by Lauren Roberts and Once Upon A Broken Heart series by Stephanie Garber. I loved both series and may or may not have already pre-ordered Fearless!
I noticed you read the Selection! Have you read any of Kiera Cass's other books? The Siren and The Betrothed/ Betrayed are all three my personal favorites and all have to do with the royal type theme. A Thousand Heartbeats is also really really good.
One more and then I'll go haha
It isn't fantasy, but Bookish Boyfriends: A Date With Darcy by Tiffany Schmidt is amazing! It is centered around both Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Predjudice. Defenitely a 5 star from me!

Okay good so I can be a little mean about DR I just didn't want to hurt any feelings but the first book fell on it's face and the second book was bonkers and I Do Not understand the hype. Warm Hands of Ghosts is EXCELLENT rebound. World War 1, some romance, light fantasy elements but the vibes are excellent and the prose is gorgeous.

Lmao that's hilarious. I'm not even bothering with book 2, it's not worth it. I read Five Survive (3*) over the weekend and I'm about halfway through The Song of Achilles (4*-5* currently). I'll give all your other suggestions a look too!

Two of the best books I have ever read came out fairly recently.
'Where the Crawdads Sing'. Real life distopian! Not one person has said they did not enjoy this and it takes you a whole new place + a bit of murder mystery.
'The Nightingale'. Women in 2nd world war France. Exceptional, frightening, exciting, sad and forgiving.
I was the most avid fantasy sci-fi reader. Slowed down now, seem to have read it all.
Maybe you have not read 'Palace' by Katheren Kerr? I went to read it again and found it had fallen apart and pages missing.
P.s. Looking at the suggestions with great interest.
P.p.s. Currently reading Dante's 'Devine Comedy'. I am on the 5th level of hell, and going down. Felt I should try hard to fill this historical hole. The major work of fiction of the 13th century.

I googled reviews on all the books on the first page, and then added them to my TBR if they seemed interesting! I haven't had time to look at all the ones on the 2nd page yet! So far I will say that nothing has really jumped out at me.

If you liked Crescent City and Eragon, you might like the Raven's Shadow trilogy by Anthony Ryan, which I'm currently rereading. It's got really lush, large scale world building, political and magical intrigue, and multiple character POVs. It does have a decent amount of religious overtones, but it's not like 'this RL religion bad, this one good' and is more about the main character's attempt to find truth and follow his conscience through a minefield of opposing view points. The first book (especially the first half) does feel a bit slow, since it's basically the main character recounting his life story to another, throughout which the main focus is his inner conflicts and character development, while the author is setting the stage for things to come.
