Wow! Thanks for the information everyone! A lot of you sound like experienced fish keepers. After reading through everyones comments and conducting some of my own research it sounds like a fish tank requires quite a bit of work and maintenance. While researching low maintenance pets I came across snakes, namely the Hognose and I think it is safe to say I have fallen in love with these cute little reptiles. While I won't be able to adopt a hognose for awhile I am enjoying learning as much as I can about them in the meantime. |

I'd suggest starting a thread about snakes, as I know several people here talk about their snakes in the chatbox and more advice is always better. My nephew has kept snakes for 20 years and they can be easy or hard, depending on the species and the individual snake. Some need larger enclosures or more frequent cleaning, some are just harder to keep healthy in captivity or have a tendency to not feed. I'm sure the community will have experience with more different types of snakes and sound advice for you. |

Though it is always best to get what you are interested in as you would be more invested. Keep in mind that hognoses aren't always recommended as a beginner snake as they often go on hunger strikes, sometimes for months. Corn snakes, garter snakes, ball pythons are good beginner snakes. |
