Ah, finished LOTR last night. If anyone who's read the entire book feels like it, I would *love* to chat about it via PMs :)

Hmm... I don't read much Historical Fiction, but I believe Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children mainly takes place during WWII? Although that is definitely fantasy/sci-fi.

Honestly, I haven't read much that can compare to The Book Thief within that genre. I read Hugo Cabret around when it was published (takes place in the early 1930's?) before the movie came out, and it was... interesting. Don't remember much of it other than I was confused for most of it, but the illustrations and the way the story was told was so cool.

I've never heard of The Boy At The Top of The Mountain, but it looks good! Added it to my TBR list on goodreads.

I just finished reading The Turn Of The Key. What an amazing read. For those who love novels wirh lots of amazing twists, I recommend that book 100%

I read the book "Between Shades of Grey" a few years ago and genuinely loved it. The book is set in 1941 and the family gets deported by the Soviets and are treated extremely poorly as you could imagine. The main character writes and draws pictures hoping they get back to her father who's in a prison camp. There are parts of the book that are quite vile but the message of fearlessness, love and hope really does pull at your heart. Plus, it's pretty long which I like :)

Im not one for historical fiction but that's my favorite book of all time. I totally recommend.
(I tried not to spoil anything except what you'd read on the back of the book lol incase anyone does read it)

Ooh I've actually had a few of these on my reading list. I shall have to get to them soon! I'm on the last book of one series and finishing another, so hopefully I'll get to some others soon.

for those looking for hisotorical romance fiction and some funny moments I highly recomend the author Catherine Coulter and her Mideval Series (Warriors Song, Fire Song, Earth Song, Secret Song).
