People are weird for being weird about divorced parents.

Oh wow, yeah, you were an infant! Whatever your parents did has nothing to do with you at that point. I don't know why someone would judge a kid for having divorced parents. That's just wild.

He didn’t realize, he backtracked some once he was told but he also had a habit of mansplaining that made it very funny to be a part of haha

@Lux, sounds like he needed to vent. That or didn't realize everyone at the table had divorced parents. XD

I once went on a double date where the other’s guy talked about how traumatic their parents amicable divorce was and how we didn’t know how divorce could be damaging for kids (they were 17 when it happened). While divorce can be traumatic and damaging, he was talking to a table full of people with divorced parents
Hummingbird Meadows

@Rainy, I have been looked down on it for my whole life even though I wasn't even 1 when it happened. It sucks.

That's a shame. It's not like you had any control over that!

Yeah, it can be annoying for sure. I think everyone does it to a degree, though.

On a different date the guy wanted to know about what it's like being a kid to divorced parents. He was extremely turned off by the fact my parents were divorced. =/

I think it was the fact that he talked about his special interest and himself for the whole hour and a half that bothered me.

Trees in general. He always had to stop whatever we were doing and identify them

Yeah the special interest talk isn't bad. Just can be for the wrong person lol

The talking about yourself the whole time tho?? That's crazy. I always worry that I talk too much about myself just in one simple conversation lol
Hummingbird Meadows
09:54:12 Bird
@Snitch, was he fascinated with tree rings too?
Rainbow

Then again, I'm very likely to talk people's ears off about my special interests, so yannow. No one's perfect lol.

Oh lord. That's how to impress a lady (I'm assuming), wow her with tree facts and make sure to emphasize how great you are (sarcasm)

I've only read 1 book by SMJ, Throne of Glass. I don't know how it compares to the rest of her books, but I did not enjoy it.

I just finished Gideon the Ninth and. What the fuck. That was an experience. Holy shit. Just gonna lay down on the floor and contemplate life now.
Anyways, if you like necromancer lesbians with swords in outer space, this might be the book for you. If you like banter and mindfuckery, this is definitely the book for you.

Will add that to my TBR list, Puck xD
Speaking of which, does anyone have some good recommendations? Specifically interested in fantasy elements, diverse casts, and LGBTQ+ romance/rep. But really, anything well-written goes.

Ooh, I just borrowed that from a friend and am going to read it. Haven't started it yet though.

That's one of my all-time favourites!! I've reread it so many times in the past year I no longer think it's healthy xD

Lockwood And Co. Is a good one if you're coming down off a SOC high. Lockwood is sort of like Kaz, but PG13. Lots of hijinks and heists. It's a fun little read.
