I have finally set up a birdhouse club (link) so that I can host guessing games around baby birds in my backyard and keep everyone up to date more easily. . Also the first contest is here. :) |

Hello! My name is Mack. I am definitely a beginner bird watcher. Im more of a person educated on wildlife and ecology who enjoys watching and being in the presence of nature. But I have this window with a little roof awning and the house sparrows like to use it as a little rest and sun spot. Theyre so close to the window! They're so admirable and fun to watch. I thought it would be fun to get a little bird feeder and maybe a bird house to enjoy their company more. I wanted to get yalls opinion, birb wellbeing is more important than my entertainment. Location: SouthEast Idaho Urban Birds i see often: house sparrows male&female Starlings Baltimore and Scott's oriole Black chinned and rufous humming birds Mourning Doves Magpies Crows/ravens Unknown Woodpeckers male&female Redtail and brown hawks Rarely I'll see a falcon but Baldeagles are common around here! I mostly hear owls This is the feeder. They hangout more above it, I'm wondering if I should scoot it up. A male and female house sparrows visited while I was taking photos. Male .  Little fluffball moment Female Sorry to spam potato quality pics, just excited. I think they were checking the feeder out, but I'm looking for advice to make it more appealing to them. Might add some bugs and get a little perch or bird house, I'd love to hear your thoughts. |

Hi Mack! <3 You can scoot it up if you'd like! The higher birds are, the happier they are. But they don't seem against their location either, so either one works. :) . Just like my birdhouse with a camera, there's also bird feeders with a camera! You could consider one of those, too. You'd be amazed the number of birds who visit consistently, the longer you have your feeder up <3 They've just gotta learn it's there lol |
