Thoughts on this WIP? Had to paint 3 of 4 hooves... Still need to do hair, shadows on horse, eyes, and lighting. Other than that is it missing anything? Edited at July 17, 2020 02:31 PM by Breezie Rose

@PRR I really like this piece, very natural. My first recommendation is to take a look at body prep. Currently, the horse's body is actually somewhat streaky. Try to smooth that out, maybe use a different brush. My second reccomendationis to look at the tail. For lack of better word, it looks somewhat 'sharp'. The flyaways are very unnatural just due to their sharp corners rather than being flowy. The hair overall, in my opinion, just needs more strands. . @Diamond There isn't really a clear light source in this image (i.e. the sun, something glowing, etc). Therefore, by looking at the background, we assume the light source is in the sky. This means that the top of the horse will be lighter and the bottom will be darker. . @Snowmass I'm not seeing or thinking of anything that would be missing from the side of the image unless you would want the horse to be looking at something such as a frog on a lily pad. What I do notice is the horse's reflection. The reflection of the trees is very sharp and precise while the horse's is blurred. This doesn't quite make sense to me. Other than that, add some ripples around the horses legs and it's perfect. Very beautiful and very natural <3 . @Cat Once again, I step into the role of lighting critic. The light source in this image would be the sunset in the background. Because of this, the part of the bridge that the viewer can see should be darker because it would be in shadow. Upping the contrast would help the natural aspect as well. Well done on the appy pattern <3

@Wintergreen Beautiful pattern, fits very nicely. Wings also look very natural. I have to say that I like the tail more than I like the mane. The mane seems rather blocky and pinched. Try letting the strands go a little wild. Let the viewer see the end of the mane. Great job using different colors on the strands. Other tip, take a small eraser and be a little pickier cutting out the horse. This will give it a more refined, finished look. Background wise, I personally thing a sunset near a body of water would look pretty awesome. . @Breezie Looking good so far! Only thing I can say at this point is maybe considering blurring the background a little to bring more attention to the horse. Excited to see the finished result! <3 Edit: Breezie, just noticed the little cactus on its face. So cute!!! Edited at July 17, 2020 06:46 PM by Gem

Looking for critique/tips/suggestions on this piece. Rip it apart if necessary, I do reccomend viewing it with your screen on max brightness <3 Edit: Ack! I had the layer with the foal's tail hidden 😜 Edit 2: This piece as well please <3 (Contest entry) Edited at July 17, 2020 11:29 PM by Gem

@Gem thank you! With the trees reflection it was already like that on the image stock but I can blur it out a little bit! I was going for a more natural looking piece since I haven't done one in a while! <3

Thanks Gem! Do you think the horse is dark enough for the background before lighting? I think that's usually something I struggle with.

@Gem I love it! I do have my brightness up but I still find it quiet dark. I am still very new to art so I don't really have any useful critiques, sorry. I added the photo I tried to draw. I have to do some playing around because when I am on my phone the edit looks great, but on my computer all my photos look increadbly darker. If anybody knows how to fix tat that would be great. ~ Also how much do you guys think I should charge for art like this? Right now a photo like above is 10k and it goes down to 6500. @Snowmass No problem! Glad I could help <3 . @Breezie The horse looks good to me, it's the white legs you might run into difficulty with though. . @Ranch Lands Trainimg Thanks! I definitely think 10k is a fair price because being able to draw photos (and do it so well) is a super cool skill and very unique.
