Superior Equines said: I don't think this is what she meant by feedback. From what I'm reading, everyone is just telling her to change her style, which isn't feedback. Where the problem is, is that everyone on HEE tries to go for the same look on art and copies other peoples style. Emerald was asking for feedback on HER style, not for everyone to tell her to change it. She is aware that everything is "bold" as you guys are putting it, and she does that for a reason. Just because she doesn't try to make her art look exactly like everyone else's doesn't mean it needs to change. I can tell whenever a piece is by Emerald because of these things you guys are telling her to change, and she's probably the only artist on HEE I can actually tell what work is hers due to this. I'm not trying to come off as rude but there is a fine line between feedback and telling her to change her style. And I know some people will also try and take advanatage of her pricing (Just by checking her forum you can see people taking advanatage of it) and she's just trying to help people out by offering quality art at lower pricing. So in my opinion, you should move up to tier 2, for one, people in your shop taking advantage of you/ being greedy, and 2 your art is well worth it, and I would pick over a lot of other tier 2 art any day. When someone asks for feedback, look through their style, not yours.
I completely agree that she is being taken advantage of, but 50k+ might be a little too much for now. I'd say closer to 30-50k

I agree about people taking advantage of her pricing. But totally go to Tier 2! Edited at April 26, 2020 11:15 AM by Pony Paradise

Thank you to those who have made positive remarks and helpful tips (meaning stuff like "blur the horizon", or "keep your prices the way they are because..."). It truly means a lot. And Superior, you honestly took the words right out of my mouth. I was looking for some helpful hints, not comments that are basically telling me to change my style. Part of my style is having sharp muscle lines. That is something that I'm not really looking to change a whole lot. I know I asked for feedback, but for the future, please stick to comments that don't necessarily include me changing my art style ;)

I agree with Tanglewood! Maybe 30k-50k is a good spot for you for now, but I see you going up the ranks quickly!

Sorry about that! I really love your style! I'd say you stay in Tier 3 but your prices are in 20K range. Love your work Emmy!

Your style is rather unique! Not my usual cup of tea, but quite pretty all the same. A few tips: 1: Keep an eye on your hair flow. As the horse moves, so does the hair. When the horse is still, gravity takes over and it drapes. The motion tells how the horse is moving or interacting with their environment. If a horse is standing, looking back at the viewer, a hanging mane says the horse has been like that for a bit. A mane with a bit of 'bounce' to it says the horse just moved or there is wind. However... when a horse is in motion/running, all of the hair will be moving in the same general direction. Keep an eye out to avoid sections moving in opposing ways. 2: Keep a skeletal/musculature chart handy. With such a bold style, you want to make sure that your shading/highlights are exact. Anytime I do heavy modifications or draw from scratch, I keep a chart in the corner of my screen. And 3: I would definitely move up to Tier 2! Your art is absolutely worth 30-50k! :)

I'm going with the flow to say 40k per piece. That being said, your art is very, very smooth. Because of that, the backgrounds are consistantly more textured than the horses/riders/other focuses. I'd say maybe add texture to your focal points, or spend a bit more time blending your backgrounds. To go along with that, the one shadow I can see doesn't attatch to the horse as well as I would like, and it's got more definition than it should as it gets further from the horse. Try blurring the outline a bit more, and make sure that any feet touching the ground are touching their shadow. Edited at April 26, 2020 03:33 PM by White Crown Stables
