I attempted a pegasus. If y'all have any tips for my future pegasus pieces let me know. Here is what I ended up with:

Its a lovely piece. I think for your first pegsus its fab. However, the shadow is far too dark, and id love to see some more flow in the tail

@Olive I don't perceive that as a shadow honestly, I think it is the reflection of the horse in the water. . @SSS I think you could lower the opacity of the reflection slightly if you wanted to but I would more so focus on adding ripples to it in order to match the water. Horse is very smooth. I feel like maybe the wings are attached too high up on the horse's neck. Maybe move at least the front wing closer to the withers. On both the mane and tail, give them a slight gold/brown tint because black hair isn't ever actually pure black unless you're doing a completely black and white piece. I'd recommend making the front of the neck highlighted as the light source is somewhat behind the horse as well as above. Other than that, I'd suggest giving the facial muscling a little more detail. Wonderful work! . @Cain Very nice! Horse is once again very smooth. Well cut out. Same thing I mentioned to SSS, take a look at a few reference photos and see if you can be a little more detailed in the facial muscling. When smudging the horse for body prep, I'd reccomend trying to avoid being able to pick out smudge strokes and being able to tell exactly where they are. Try using a larger brush on a lower opacity to prep more area at once and also give you a more consistent prep. I'd suggest adding a layer behind the horse and filling in a little more at the base of the mane. You don't have to do multiple strokes, just maybe take a soft dip pen and fill it in with your base mane color. The eye is very pretty. I'd work on grounding just a touch more, specifically the back hoof farthest to the right. Just gently erase the very bottom of the hoof where you can still make out its shape. The flow of both the mane and tail is very nice. I'm not sure if the color really matched the horse's color but that's up to you as an artist. Beautiful job overall <3 Edited at January 17, 2021 10:47 AM by Gem

Thank you both! So to be honest it was meant to be a shadow because I thought it was some kind of cracked floor she was standing on lol didn't realize it was water xD but wing placement is something I can totally work on thanks!

@Cain Definite improvement in grounding and filling in the mane. I like what you did with the face too. I'm not sure how much more you can do with body prep so maybe just keep that in mind for next time. Keep up the gorgeous work!

I tried some new hair methods and I like how this turned out. I experimented with the mane, tail and feathers.
