So I tried a hippocampus on Ibis for the first time...and I can't stand it lol. Critique? This is a WIP, so you may notice some things haven't been finished yet :) Edited at December 16, 2020 03:40 AM by Tanglewood

I love it right now! Obviously add fins, but I suggest adding colour, like even just a blue or green :) maybe paint the eye? As I said I love it :D

@Madsie I really really like this piece! Beautiful job! Hair, especially the mane, is done very nicely. First thing I would reccomend is to add a shadow underneath the mane/tail where it overlaps the horse's body. The eye is seriosuly gorgeous, no critique there 😍 Grounding-wise, as opposed to just cutting off the feet, use a bunch of rather small eraser strokes to make it look like strands of grass are overlapping the feet. I do see that you have a shadow for the horse but I feel like the shadow is more direct than the lighting necessitates. With this lighting, the shadow should probably be more underneath the horse and not have much of a smsistinct shape. Will definitely watch out for this in the auction forums <3 Edit: smsistinct = distinct for those of you who can type (unlike me) 😂 . Alrighty, so I've realized that I'm terrible at drop shadows no matter how I try to do it, so would you all be so kind and help me figure out how to get it to look right grounding/shadow wise? Snowy settings like this are so difficult XD Obviously still a WIP (currently on step seven of HRS's lovely guide <3 ) Edited at December 17, 2020 09:41 AM by Goat Mama

@Breezie I don't typically use drop shadow when the light source is directly above the horse. I use it more so for when there is a really strong light source diagonally/horizontally on the horse. I hate snow/sand so I can't help you there :/ For the horse shadow in this case, I would take an airbrush or some type of rather soft brush and make a black blob beneath the horse. Set the layer to Multiply, play with the opacity.
